Yea nah not at all. Drake did take him on tour with him and threw him a few songs, which helped, - but none of that made Kendrick, Kendrick was gonna be a star, he already had Section80, mixtapes and features popping, critical acclaim building, TDE had a movement already which got him signed to Aftermath/Interscope, all that was way before Drake slid in. He was gonna be next, which is why Drake worked with him. That was a mutually beneficial transaction
somebody like BlocBoy or Smiley or Majid Jordan or P Reign or Partynextdoor or Baka or the 'Whah Gwan Delilah' people is the few artists that were actually unknowns before Drake "made" them. And look at where they all are now still... stimulus ran the fukk out and he calculatedly leaves them in the bushes
TheWeekend might be the only one I can think of that he maaaaaybe gets credit for... And if he hadn't broken away from Drake's parasitic ass he would still be Majid/PND status.
but cats like Fetty Wap or 2Chainz or A$AP or Kendrick or J Cole or Migos or Future or all the UK/JA/Afrobeats people he rode - or even ILoveMakkonen or Sexy Redd - they all already had movements that he attached himself to after they were buzzing and he rode their waves with them
sometimes its symbiotic, sometimes he's parasitic
