Jeezy had the fukking world on lock during his run. Sick and fukking tired of people trying to forget the stranglehold he had on the rap game

Same goes for TI. And TI had way more crossover hits/appeal....another thread bc he was about to go to another level if he didn't get locked up.

Gucci had more longevity bc his peak was never as high :hubie: . He fathered the whole new Atlanta and south almost though and got a billboard 1. But he never did much on his own. Waka, his SHOOTER, was a far far bigger artist than him on a solo level

Nah...I remember when you couldn't walk a block without seeing Snowman posters/stickers plastered everywhere...and Thug Motivation bumping everywhere. Jeezy was moving like a rockstar out here

Gucci cult following was elite so I understand why the comparison is being made, but nah Jeezy peak was higher.

Don't forget local and national news coverage about banning snowman shirts :wow:

This is a real good debate :ehh:

Gucci started bubbling nationally in 2005 and didn’t really become a well known until he linked up with Jeezy for So Icey and beefed with him. :yeshrug:

Gucci’s movement was homegrown that gradually became a cult following that had him flirting with mainstream success. Gucci Mane was a rap star don’t get me wrong but he never reached the same heights Jeezy did. Legal issues and drug abuse prevented that from happening.

Jeezy’s movement was organic and exploded over to the mainstream that made Tm 101 go platinum making Jeezy a superstar. Even NY and LA was fukking with him. Jay Z, Puff, Fabulous, Dipset, Ice Cube, Snoop etc…new comers, veterans and legends.

Jeezy was treated like a #1 NBA draft pick coming into the game. Gucci had to put in work musically and grind to get his respect.

Jeezy’s peak was much higher….

Jeezy had def jam and jay z. Gucci was a drug addict/jail bird signed to a random label.

Stupid argument.

However, Jeezy had a nice 3-4 year run but Gucci still outchea :manny:

Why I don't like that "b b but he had the streets" argument

You think nikkas wasn't bumping Jeezy just as much if not more lol
shyt just lame. I get it tho, cuz Gucci the “people’s champ” and got the staying power

Meanwhile Jeezy kinda faded in relevancy in the latter part of his career and married an Asian woman, and TIP kinda became corny to lotta folk…

But nikkas needa stop with that revisionist shyt. Gucci wasn’t as BIG as prime Jeezy or TiP

I was young but from my perspective the primes that i was apart of.. 50 , jeezy, Wayne, gucci, chief keef.. no other rappers had more organic runs than them..

I got kicked out of middle school and wore the snowman shirt for class pictures jeezy was every where but gucci bruh.. that nikka was like a breath of fresh air nikka was just different .. jeezy was way more popular mainstream… but the mfs that was on gucci ain’t listen to nothing but Gucci, this was when mfs ain’t wanna hear no mainstream music .. shyt was different

Y'all already hit the nail on the head: Gucci had a cult following and was around longer; Jeezy still had the highest peak. That's all there is to it.
