What job you guys playing as? I tried starting as Rogue but it's fukking ass cheeks.

The main (and maybe, only) complaint I had about the first game is the melee jobs are inferior to the ranged/mage jobs due to survivability. A Wizard or Ranger can attack enemies safely, a Rogue or Knight has to get within range of enemy attacks to do damage.

my main is an archer, but I have a rogue in my party. rogue gets better when you get better weapons. the knives you start with do so little damage, even with backstab crits

in general there's a steep curve in the beginning because your gear sucks

game is great though, and improves a lot on the first one. so much so, that I would recommend people new to the game just start with 2

How do you avoid your Rogue getting caught in cross fire? What I mean is, the main disadvantage of melee in the first game was in order to do damage they'd have to get right up on the enemies....in addition to exposing them to enemy attacks, it also made them take environmental damage if your mage set shyt on fire, electrified the ground, etc. Is there any melee abilities in 2 that makes this easier to deal with?

The level cap for the "Battle Chasers" beta is 15 and since I hit it I'm gonna get into this game today.

there's an ability to basically teleport into backstab position. rogue (scoundrel) also has it's own teleport ability for getting out of those situations. also a boost to mobility that allows them to move further, and even move a little using zero AP. invest in dodge to hopefully avoid close range attacks, and/or 'attacks of opportunity'

and in general try not to put your rogue in the middle of the shyt. I usually try to use my rogue to take out archers, mages, and other long range attackers

with the way the new armor system works, and the little damage rogues can do, you're better off keeping them away from strong melee enemies. although they are good for finishing off those enemies, after their armor is gone

I'll be on this shyt soon, hope its good for me. Copped for 29 bucks...paid the rest off by selling those useless steam cards. Made 16 dollars :leon:
I thought that shyt would be a hassle to set up and not be worth it. And I wasted a ton of my cards converting to gems:to:
I was an idiot all this time. :ld:

I'm still in Fort Joy. My team is absolute trash....I need to either get other characters or use skill resets. Every fight is a struggle because the jobs I got (Summoner, Polymorph, Wizard and Enchanter) don't mesh well at all. I'm sure they're cool later in the game but they're damn near useless (together I mean) at lower levels.

You really think its a bad team or maybe its just not knowing the game like that since its new as hell.

My initial experience is that shyt is hard. My main guy is a ranger class...and while you can attack from far, mother fukkers can walk pretty damn far and be right up in your shyt. :damn:

Have a cleric, summoner, and uh a ummm i forgot the name...the one with the trident weapon as my crew. Figured that would be OK balance. If I ever find that dwarf Ill make him a Knight or a fighter.

I somehow ended up playing 4 hours though last night, shyt is fukked up how time passes while you play this. fukked my day up

The game ain't new for me....I beat the first one when it first came out, then the Enhanced Edition. So I've put 200+ hours into the first game. Aside from the physical/magical armor and some new spells/abilities they didn't really reinvent the wheel with part 2. Which is fine, the combat in the first game was damn near flawless.

And yeah....my team was trash. Well, the Polymorph was trash because all his attacks were short range....meaning he's in the line of fire if I use magic. I dumped him and got another Wizard....so now I'm Summoner, Wizard, Wizard and Enchanter and I'm doing fine.

Ranger isn't as bad as the melee classes because once you get elemental arrows you can do the same stuff as magic. Until then though it's not as good as magic jobs.

I just spent like 4 hours playing this and the level of freedom is retarded. I'm just randomly trying stuff and seeing what happens....I'm surprised I haven't broken the game yet.

@daze23 how did you escape Fort Joy? I finally escaped, I want to see how different our experiences were.

hmmm yeah. It really does suck to be able to light people on fire but then you got teammates all up in their face so you think twice... is there a way later on to have close range melee guys who wont get destroyed by friendly fire?

Yeah, they get a few abilities later in the game....and in part 2 Armor obviously shields a lot of the status effects like Burning, Frozen, etc....but it doesn't change the fact that jobs with magic ain't gotta deal with any of that.:francis:
