I hate wigs, weaves, bleached hair, conks, perms, and every other technique black women use to make their hair resemble the lifeless, mangy, stringy cords that hang from the heads of the CaC woman.

It's incredibly sad that most of the world thinks black women are bald-headed. Stupid videos like ''Good Hair'' by Chris Brown has made our hair a hot topic. How many of you guys know that the Japanese/other east Asians relax their hair? That's because unlike ''us'' they don't air out their dirty laundry. Well, I'm here to open your eyes a bit more on the topic.

First and foremost black women CAN grow their hair very long. It's just that most black females aren't taught how to take care of their hair properly because they're so fixated on making it look straight due to the psychological restraints placed upon them by society since birth. Thankfully my mother never relaxed my hair as a child.. but I took that step as a teen and ruined my hair lol. I would've carried on but as a broke student who couldn't keep up with hair maintenance, I decided to go natural and my hair journey began there. As a child my hair was always brushed out, so I was pretty shocked to find out my hair had cute little curls, and that's how most ladies who embark on a natural hair journey feel.

This thread is for guys who have a sister, mother, wife, girlfriend who they want to encourage to go natural. There's a wealth of information out here on the internet that will help them with their journey.

Here are a few things that helps black women grow naturally long hair:

Moisture (and lots of it.. water is your FRIEND)
Conditioners
Oils that lock in the moisture
Protein treatments that strengthen your hair
A good balance between moisture and protein
Once a week you should deep condition your hair
Trim every so often to get rid off split ends!
Only comb your hair when it's damp.. & has conditioner. If you brush it when it's dry that will lead to split ends.

Hair LOOKS completely different when you start to take care of it! Good hair is only healthy hair. But if you're interested in kinkier hair that has grown long.. check out this Youtuber

I'm here to answer any Qs you may have on natural hair.

Oh , and 1 more thing I'd like to add is that black men should become more supportive of the natural hair movement. I'm not saying all of you, but there are those who try and diss black females who go natural as if their hair wouldn't look the same if it grew out :shaq2:

Just for the record I don't discriminate against those who wear weaves/wigs etc, they're still my sisters & some of them wear it as a protective style e.g. Oprah. Who has seen Oprah's natural locks? Beautiful... When you're in the public eye constantly it's easier to wear a wig/weave to protect your own hair. It's just bad when you become dependent on it & begin to take care of it more than you take care of your own hair. Okay I think I've said enough..

This thread was inspired by other ignorant posts I read here in regards to hair.

I see what you did right there.:youngsabo: Great post nonetheless.

Great post. When other black women see my hair they always wonder what I did to get long hair and they always express doubt that they can grow long, healthy hair. After so many women approached me with the same sentiments, I started a natural hair group in my small college town to spread the knowledge. We talk about all the things you mentioned in the op.

Lesbianest, most black men prefer their ladies with natural hair short long or otherwise. I for one have a severe distaste for wigs and weaves. Women where weaves for themselves, not for their men or for their friends.
