Martha Theus: I have been a vegetarian since 1985. I was raised in Detroit, Michigan, and introduced to a vegetarian way of life when I moved to Los Angeles and met my husband, Londale Theus, who has been a vegetarian since 1982. Together, we raised our children, Kamaal and Londale Jr. as vegetarians since birth. Kamaal has graduated college and Londale is in his senior year. They are active, athletic, healthy young adults who have never eaten meat, poultry, fish or eggs, and I was fully vegetarian throughout both pregnancies. (Check out Londale Jr.'s picture below! - pure vegetarian muscle!)

Now there will be a pie in the face challenge trending.. ..instead of ice water. it will probably be for
Huntington's disease.

It is much more common in people of Western European descent than in those of Asian or African ancestry

Even if can't tolerate church... that's a good place to network to speak on how we kill ourselves... and on creating healthier homes for children.. ... a couple small changes could end certain things like asthma epidemics in certain communities

Or do you just only speak on Caucasian diseases and why black men should avoid families?

@Blackking You have to remember that we're dying of things because we also live longer as a whole. While some of this is a result of socioeconomics and not genetic "flaws," these other ailments you list are multi-modal diseases with tons of origins and associated symptoms as a result. Its not like curing an actual infectious agent

We're dying of things that we can prevent in many cases but you have to look at things across the board.
Puts some perspective on how big tuberculosis was

Most of it is a type of racism. Look at the grocery stores and the lack of healthy choices. We're set up to fail. On any given day you can go to nearest meat section of the grocery store and see endless packages of fat back, salt jowl, neckbones, pig feets. Just alotta high fat content meat for cheap. Most black ppl be on a budget so they buy what they can afford to make big meals and stretch they food dollars.
This x10. I live between the hood and the burbs. Depending on my day I can grocery shop at a venue in either side.

The groceries (same chain) in the burbs have large "whole food" type sections. The one in the hood doesn't and the food in the hood store is more expensive (it is more urban but not wildly so). The stock of fruit and vegetables is always 100% in the burbs. The one in the hood has me struggling to look for asparagus.

Then you walk around in the streets. IN the hood - betting shops, dollar stores, fried chicken shops. It's different in the burbs. I understand healthier food is more expensive but it all smells like a trap.

I'm actually interested in opening up a healthy fast food store in the hood.
