Pops: You need to come to NYC between Oct 16-20 so we can talk
GTANDP: That's a week away, I can't do that. I just took a month off from work, I have no time off left this year. I can come next year or you can come
Pops: No, I'm not coming. You should be able to come any time for family. Your response is an insult
GTANDP: :dwillhuh:

My pops has the emotional maturity of a 14 year old thot :mjcry: How do act 1/5th your age :mindblown:

You have a much bigger heart than me. I would have disowned both of them negroes years back.
I had a closely related life story, but it was my sister that got all the breaks.
I keep them all at an arms length nowadays and most of my family I don't even talk to anymore.

I'm not accepting shytty relationships from anyone.
Period.
This is a quick summary of a book called the four agreements.

The four agreements.

1. Be impeccable with your word
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don’t take anything personally
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don’t make assumptions
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness, and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always do your best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.

Great way to live life.

Dad -> He was there but not really there, taught me a lot but not enough, tries to compensate for that by giving me flabby n sick ass advice about women he could've given me earlier, gets visibly angry and just makes shyt awkward when he does, hypermasculine.

Mom -> Thinks she's still 18 (listens to Top 40 stuff all the time), gets angry over petty shyt, narcissistic, still thinks i'm a child, too extraverted for me (always needed to go out and do something when I just wanted to relax on the weekends).

However, I could be a better son and they really tried their best to give me a better life than they had, I had it very good as a kid but hey, we all have gripes
