Strongly disagree. PTA has reached a decisive moment in his career where his movies are becoming more and more his own instead of him making movies heavily influenced by or homaging other directors (Hard Eight/Lumet, Boogie Nights/Scorsese, Magnolia/Altman, Punch-Drunk Love/Godard, There Will Be Blood/Kubrick). I expect him to start making the most interesting movies of his career now, although they may not always be the most (mainstream) accessible.
i hope he finds a good middle ground between what he wants and what others want. george lucas started doing what he wanted as well, and that didnt work out...

George Lucas isn't one of the greatest technical directors alive though.

Roland Emmerich deserve that flattop. How you go from Independence Day to Godzilla 1998 :snoop:? His only hit after that was The Day after Tomorrow, but other than that, :camby: and don't get me started on this faggy turning bytch over presumed fatwas for his 2012 movie :stopitslime:

You're talking about the man who gave us Universal Soldier, Stargate and The Patriot. That's three movies most directors wish they could make.

Yeah how many directors wish they could pull Lincoln out their ass?

Only Eastwood probably, because Lincoln was as dry as Eastwood's work is at his worst.
