How can you have a great catalogue when your OWN people don’t listen to it? Their is an entire gender (black males) that don’t check for this chick man.

She can’t get straight black male listeners. Why we giving her this much attention with this many pages? She obviously never gave us attention by making music a straight black male could actually bump. :mjlol:

Do u know how much it would cost to cover or even sample Bey voice on a record? No new artist can afford that shyt and none of her contemporaries are gonna do that shyt.

Them days are over. Look what Sting did to Juiceworld

The Sting/Juiceworld situation is a whole different thing than what I'm talking about here.

You must be one of them folks that thinks Beyoncé writes her own songs and chit...

FUKK DIONNE WARIWCK :pacspit:

this byatch sided with Right wing republican nutjobs like Tipper Gore in an effort to mute "gangsta rap" back in the 90s

when in reality her and Deloras Tucker was trying to extort Interscope into making her relevant on the radio again as well as give Tucker her own "music imprint"

had her hand open for a check :feedme: so she could put a "rap collabo" saying she was trying to change hip hop....byatch was just broke looking to be in the spotlight again

4211461.jpg

she always throwing shade at "black entertainers and moguls"

but she ain't said shyt to them crakkkers like Norby Walters who got the MAFIA involved to get her to remain locked into that slave deal she had

or what about Burt Bacharach her songwrighting friend who made MILLIONS off of her publishing .......and had to file bankruptcy multiple times

Dionne Warwick: dizzying downfall of a bankrupt diva

this old hoe ain't got an issue with Beyonce's iconic status...SHE JUST JEALOUS CAUSE SHE DIDN'T MAKE THE RIGHT BUSINESS MOVES LIKE BEYONCE

Bey should put out a "flabby n sick" diss song about old haters like Dionne :pachaha:

please learn how to read without bias

I can read, and that nicca is correct - Confessions was a MONSTER.
That's a pop album, and Usher had been crossed over to being a pop artist by then.

That album alone has the #4, #36, and #56 most-played radio singles of all time.
OF ALL TIME.

...and, he has two other songs in the Top 100;
Again, that's Top 100 of ALL TIME.

Usher is legit one of the most successful artists of all time by every metric - even though the man who discovered him wrote a book saying he ain't that great of a singer.

More germane to this discussion - he got songs that a serious singer (besides himself) would put on a suit and go on stage and sing without looking an ass...a lot more than Bey.

I never said it wasn’t a big album........

Universally considered classic in the realm of Thiller and Purple Rain as he mentioned...........not so much

How many michael Jackson covers has their been over the last 20 years?

Again - that's not even the same situation I'm talking about; I'm talking about songwriters giving the same song to two (or more) artists at the same time - like "Alfie" in the first post of mine you quoted.

...but just to show you that don't know what you talking about, and you done fucced up -
Here's a detailed, alphabetized list of Michael Jackson covers!

Dionne's peers were some of the greatest musical talents that ever lived. Even so, her classics still made just as big an impact as many of her peers' hits did. She was indeed an icon in her prime. And yes, her music was more pop than r&b(she was a pop artist), so you shouldn't judge her by r&b standards or lists; her music reached people of multiple genres.

Beyoncé's competition has never been anywhere near Dionne's. You'd be hard pressed to find a single all-time great musical talent Beyoncé had to compete against.

I gave her Alicia Keyes, everybody else was out of their prime who could have competed. But we all saw the difference in how Alicia was revered versus Beyonce when they were both active. It was Alicia by a damn landslide.

Then we saw Rhianna was about to take Beyonces lane after dropping "Round Of Applause" and becoming a star. So they label decided to dirty her up and make her create hellhound music to get her out of Beyonces lane with the quickness. You could say Keyshia Cole, but Keyshia was more in the Mary J Blige lane, and would probably only be argued by people who viewed her as more authentic and soulful then the commercialized Beyonce, and of course hood chicks. To this day though I still put Alicia over Beyonce though the rest of the world doesnt. So there goes Dionne Warricks theory about icons, that shyt doesn't matter in this new era where only visibility matters.

And I would venture to say you may be wrong about that.
It's got hits on there that are bigger than any of the hits on those albums...and it still gets play to this day...

You are talking about hits when those are two of the biggest/most critically acclaimed albums across the history of record music regardless of genre or classification. Can you really say that about Confessions?

You made the leap and ran in here to defend it. It can be great and a monster (which it is) but with Thriller and Purple Rain?

Sir

Mary J and baby girl had us:mjcry:
Alicia Keyes had us:wow:
Every nikka knows the words to Keyshia Coles "Love" even if they don't know they know it:wow:.

I can't think of any Beyonce song I fukk with, even the ones with Jay are trash.

nikka plenty people cover her music too. And like I said shyt has been a big time change in music in regards to samples and covers. Artists are not letting people eat off their shyt no more. Beyoncé I can list dozens of covers of her music.

I'll let you have it on "critically acclaimed", but you can't fucc with "biggest"...

So yeah - Confessions is definitely one of the biggest albums of all-time "regardless of genre or classification",
and therefore it's not wrong for it to be mentioned in the same breath with those and (as other dude you quoted mentioned) Don't Be Cruel, Songs In The Key Of Life, and The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

Probably not Voodoo, though.

Nygga, if we made a thread right now that said "Name your top 10 R&B albums from female vocalist only" none of these nyggas would name a Beyonce album.

I was definitely going to call you out on your first statement. When I was growing up, the females were singing to the men, the men were singing to the women. Listen to all the older music. It captured the attention of the male listener. Why wouldn't you as a man want to listen to a good looking female vocalist?

Beyonce came along and we started getting females singing to the females.
