St John's hasn't been a brand name in college hoops since the early 90s.

And in 2019, no, NY media market doesn't mean THAT much. Stockpiling talent in the Blueblood schools like Duke to dominant TV for the year has been working out for the sneaker companies so it's gonna take someone real shrewd in recruiting and an actual X's and O's coach to start building some momentum their with wins as the big recruits aren't coming any time soon

That '90-'91 squad was legit and they had a BRUTAL schedule that year but still got 20+ wins.

Duke was damn near unstoppable though and the only reason I remember it was because they knocked off KU in the Championship game. It'll be good to have SJU get that Jarvis era shine at a minimum but hopefully the spirit of Carnesecca flows with the new coach.

A small school like Saint Johns isn't gonna be able to match a massive school like ASU in terms of salary. You don’t understand the northeast because all of them small northeast schools have money fam. From the Big East, to the Seven Sisters schools to the Northeast Oberlin Schools and of course the Ivy League all of them schools have wealthy alumni.



Arizona State has 86 thousand students vs SJU 16 thousand students yet SJU has the bigger endowment ( 665 million for ASU vs 716 million for SJU), a majority of Arizona State University makes under 30k a year vs SJU in which a majority of students make over 100,000 a year.

On a side note that Big East Conference in its heyday made a lot of these smaller schools what they are today. That was a monster brand in sports. Even us on the west coast were major Big East Basketball stans when we were growing up. Its tough to return to glory in college basketball.

This is a disgrace. You don't fire a St.John's legend without having a plan in place to replace him. The AD looks horrible. If you're gonna fire Mullin you better have Hurley's name on a contract within 24 hours
