I'ts a trash battle. So Diddy will be out there playing other's people beat and music and acting like like it's his?

Diddy ain't no musician.

No. Puff is a producer.

He's not a producer in the way that average Hip Hop producers are, he's a producer in the way that producers of Jazz, Rock and R&B are. He oversees the recording of the song and album. He knows his music and he knows what works and what doesn't. He knows how to advise producers and artists when it comes to the music

He has the vision when it comes to writing and producing music.

That's also another problem: I don't think you can transcript the notion of producer the way it operates in live band genre in Hip-Hop. One of the reasons is that half of the work done by the "producer" in those genres is already done in Hip-Hop by the beatmaker. When Primo is digging the crates, he's arleady producing.

Diddy has the vision. Yes, I agree. IN that sense he's like a customer: he tells the musicians what he wants and they provide. He advises them on how to create the music, he does not create it. He's like the CEO of a car making firm telling his engineers what type of cars he needs for a new market. He can get credit for the commercial success of the car but not for the task of creating it. He's not a technician.
This Diddy/JD debate is based on confusion. Diddy here is more like an exec of a record company and that's what it was while JD is talking about creating music in the lab.

they should split this up into 2 nights. One night for R&B and the other for Hiphop. If so, then JD wins the R&B battle while he gets washed in the hiphop one.

"Producer" is a nebulous concept invented to create confusion and steal from artists.

A vezuz of "producers" does not make sense cause you dn't really know what you're comparing. Keep it to the muscians (singers, rappers, beatmaker, etc) or make it a battle of the exec. aka a battle of labels. But a battle of producers does not mean anything.

The better battle would be a Bad Boy Verzuz So So Def. In that case, Diddy and JD would be on the same level.

Diddy disrespecting someone who really created music (not just whispered some ideas in the studio) and people riding with Diddy is really crazy.

i RESPECT Diddy as a producer (not a "producer") because he initiated and funded thru bad Boy some great music. But he did NOT made that music.

Puff only wants Dre because Dre comes with the biggest reward and the least amount of risk.

Dre is practically unbeatable in a Verzuz so losing to him is no big deal. Whereas losing to anyone else (JD included) makes Puff look bad

Facts Diddy losing Dre isnt an upset.

Folks expect Dre to win

I’ve heard he was very hands on producing for the early So So Def crew and Usher’s second album

Here’s a story of Nas talking about JD producing a song and writing him a check for 100k on the spot and then going back to the boards

The second time Bow Wow was amongst greatness :ahh:

:mjlol: At people thinking Puff is Quincy Jones. That’s pretty much what you described. Quincy actually reads music and plays instruments though
