She's not acting like she's telling it for the first time. She actually tells her side of the story every few years, but people simply forget about it. And they even play the clips of her, or her interviewing, whenever there's a doc/mini doc on Puff/Shyne that covers it.
Edit: I just looked it up, and it looks like it's comes back around every 5 years.
There were always some reports and witnesses that Puff was firing too. Seems more likely now than it did back in 1999. Mainly because guns seem like a part of Puff's life still.
I followed that trial obsessively as a kid. Why did they even go to trial? They couldn't plea that out?
It was also a ricochet. So hard to say who shot exactly who, and what really happened. They said Shyne fired in the air. Maybe Puff did too. Maybe they did at the same time. Maybe Puff/Shyne didn't mean to shoot it in the air, and just missed.
If I am not mistaken she did testify that it was Shyne she saw firing. But there was a handful of witnesses who said both things. Shyne and Puff or just Shyne. And also Scar and his guys were shooting too.
There were different kinds of shells at the scene from at least three different guns.

It’s also the 25 year anniversary of the incident this year so people will be bringing it up again
She was still with him for a full year after this

i couldve swore that car chase with the gun was what really started her to break up... if im wrong.. my bad..

The car chase, the hours in jail, being arrested, in a holding cell -the fact she realized Puff was actually a fukking maniac and a serious liability to not just her career, which is obvious, but her life and health lol
She probably wasn't really with him after, just all appearances, while she made her career movies. After that she dropped all the indie weird movie, and did straight romantic comedies, and became THE latina box office darling. Remember, it's jarring to think but this was pre social media, so all the major celebs were just managed with public appearances and statements to the press, often via a friendly reporter. She didn't need to do get on IG the next day and make some idiotic video.
All their lives were almost changed after that night, Shyne was the only one to face real and immediate consequences.

thats the point i was tryna make. Homie quoted me and said she was with him for a year after, which i took as him saying my assessment was wrong. That night had nothing to do with it just they stayed together

In that lawsuit it said that Puff said she passed him the gun in the car and he bragged about shooting nikkas and getting away with it and he got away with a shooting not long ago in his studio that was dismissed as a drive by outside of it.
She should have said that at trial
