I know, I understand that, but......

Only with producers like Puffy and Dr. Dre does the definition of what Hip Hop producer is get changed

With Pete Rock, he's the one making the beats.

With RZA, he's the one making the beats

With DJ Premier, he's the one making the beats

With DJ Quik, he's the one making the beats.

With The Neptunes, they are the ones making the beats and playing instruments.

This isn't Jazz, Rock or R&B. It it different in hip hop, because primarily hip hop producers are sampling.

Now yes, it does change when a hip hop producer like like Dr. Dre or DJ Quik brings in musicians and has them play certain parts (guitar, bass, piano etc etc)

But Puffy does not work the machines in the studio, his own producer Deric even said so. Puffy comes with ideas and adds concepts and shyt, but he ain't making the actual music.

Dr. Dre has always had a lot of help when it comes to his production, it's to the point where you don't even know what the fukk he does. And Dr. Dre the only Hip Hop producer without a sound of his own.

Puffy is an executive producer, and in my opinion, Dr. Dre is the best mixer and executive producer. Dude has had so many co producers and help with his beats.

That definition doesn't change exclusively for anyone. Every producer you listed will tell you that they do more than make beats as a producer.

There is nothing wrong with having co-producers and even the producers who are credited as sole producers have help. They had session players and what not.
