it aint THAT universal. i knew one nikka growing up that used to watch that
I remember when I first found out how old DBZ actually was. I couldn't believe I was watching an episode that was damn near 10 years old already. The only thing I used the internet for back then was porn and looking up Dragonball Z databases. I remember reading somewhere that DragonBall Z was one of the top searched things on the internet for a brief time.Yeah as stated before when the Cartoon Network started showing the series it opened it up to a huge audience that didn't really know about anime. I remember seeing some of the episodes and telling my cousin (who was heavy into anime) and he was like "breh them episodes is from the early 90's" so if you were already into anime you knew about it but I think a lot of people who were fans of DBZ became fans after Cartoon Network started showing it.
I was like this with Fist of the North star.I was one of those ultra annoying anime nerds around the time DBZ was big. DBZ was too mainstream for me when I was like 10 or 11 and I used to watch animes I would rent from blockbuster and thought I was on another level
"You watch DBZ?"
"Nah I watch real anime like *insert less popular anime here* "
I ended up watching DBZ around 15 though and marathoned the whole thing
Speaking of which, anyone old enough to remember when Sci-fi channel used to air anime movies on saturday morning?
This used to come on at least once a month and used to be my shyt
I'm an 80s baby and aside from Akira, have never watched anime in my life. My closest friends, all in their mid-30s, were never into it either
Namek is gonna blow up in 5 minutesEverybody watched it breh. Going home after class so you wouldn't miss it.
Everybody in school was like is Goku going to escape planet namek.
I still watch it on my funimation subscription.
I never understood this bs either. I caught dbz after school in the late 90's and used to get hella frustrated with all the filler episodes. Then came along Naruto and Bleach; I was in awe of the amount of bullshyt episodes. There was even full seasons that had nothing to do with the main storyline, i was like wtf?!?!DBZ the only anime i watched from start to finish.
Never really got how nikkas was watching 400+ eps of one piece, bleach and naruto.
