I'm conviced 80% of the coli would hate hip-hop if they were around in 1985-1990

The best thing about the golden era was the variety

at the same time as you had tairrie b you had harmony with "poundcake" which got mad play back then
I remember people would 'battle' on the box by requesting Harmony' "poundcake" or "funk me" by H.W.A. over and over :russ:

Akinyele and Kool G. Rap

And then one about LGBT bashing by Tribe

Akinyele is the definition of crosses the line twice. Dude is such a fukkin dirtbag it spins around to absolutely hilarious :mjlol:

The Beastie Boys was moving units, so it was only natural to pull an Elvis.

Everyone was trying to get a white avatar back then.

Wu Tang had Remedy (Remedy might have even paid to be an affiliate..NYC cats gonna have to fact check me tho)

Cypress Hill with House of Pain and then The Whooliganz (Alchemist (the big time producer) and Scott Caan - both dudes from Beverly Hills)

I'd have to really dig in the crates to remember some of the others.

New schoolers wanna talmbout "the culture" and "no industry plants back in the day" - lol

To add to your post and be off topic a bit. I’m still dumbfounded how Alchemist and Primo are classified as NY producers today lol.

I don't remember a group of white guys sounding like Onxy. The only group I remember blatantly biting onxy was the Cutthroats, who were co-signed by Guru

I saw it the other day on my IG feed they weren't just regular white guys they were like kids

Edit found it:

I don't really understand why everyone has turned into Carmen San Diego these days. In the 80s, cats was just happy to hear rap. Lol. Ain't no way Rapping Duke (aka a non ironic parody of super racist John Wayne) would get popular today. That's how starved we were.

How do you feel about Slick Rick or MF DOOM? (UK)

What about Tupac? (NY, Harlem)
What about Ludacris? ( Illinois)
Heavy D (Jamaica, Mandeville to be specific).

I could go on and on.

When Rakim said, "It ain't where you're from, it's where you're at" it's because he was getting flack for being from Long Island.

Jeezy was getting commentary for not being from Atlanta.

so by those standards, Georgia can claim Chuck D since he lives in Atlanta now and has been there for probably 2 decades
