After watching "Broke" on 30 for 30, I always assumed car washes were essentially a loss. Nowadays, fast food (especially mall food) might be too. But I think Shaq is such a brand today, most businesses are crawling to him to help their bottom line. He probably makes good money from Turner, but the fact that he's on television also increases his marketability and worth.

Some athletes choose to do just awful investments.

It doesn’t surprise me for basically anyone. Lots of lotto winners end up struggling financially as well I heard.

Those surveys might be kind of skewed though if they include guys on 10 day contracts, or NFL players who only play a year or 2 (the majority of NFL players don’t last), MLB players who get called up briefly but aren’t good enough to last, etc…..NBA players I think have better options than NFL players though. If you’re good enough to get a 10 day contract or two-way, you’re most likely good enough to make very comfortable money overseas.

Kawhi won’t.

He drives a rusty 17 year old car.

And his Windows XP service pack hasn’t been updated since 2008 so I don’t think his brain is programmed to make it rain on hoes.

Not surprising, these guys still want to live that high class lifestyle after money stops coming in and if they haven’t made investments to keep brining money in at an equal or better pace they go broke.

I’d be surprised if any player who came in the league after 2014 goes broke they make absurd money now
This how I feel, the money different now.. You look at journeyman and they clearing 100 mil after 2014.. Look at a guy like Danny Green

A guy who barely hung on til he found a role and was part of championship so now he has that under his belt

Danny Green
