True.
Mainly because Shannon was in car accident that inadvertently save Matt's life before Matt cut that garbage promo.
Late Saturday night (3/19) WWE SmackDown Superstar Shannon Moore was involved in a head-on collision with a fairly high ranking sergeant in the US Army near Fort Bragg. A resident of Whispering Pines, NC, Moore was returning home from meeting with friends from the WWE RAW roster following their show at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, NC. Moore was driving his Hummer and was hit head-on by the soldier, who was arrested for drunken driving. Moore was being followed home by fellow WWE Superstar Matt Hardy, who lives nearby. Hardy had been in the lead, but Moore had passed him when the accident happen. Had Hardy been hit instead of Moore, he would probably have been killed as he was driving a Corvette. Moore is injured, and it is unknown how long it will be before he is able to return to competition at WWE.

It was fine as a comedic heel but nobody ever really took him seriously

He had a chance with the Edge feud but wwe had no desire to push him it was all about Edge

It all depends who the machine is behind

Matt beat Taker during that run (yes it was due to Brock interference but still) and I remember accepting it.

He's WAY too easy to make fun of now because he brings it on himself but it doesn't detract from his early 2000's/PreEdge&Lita stuff.

He was finding his groove with that gimmick and it was topical for its time with everything being cyber this cyber that. That Edge fallout was too much for him to overcome professionally but yeah I enjoyed that gimmick and his work then.

Potential for what? To be an entertaining mid-card gimmick? Yes, and it fulfilled that potential. Matt's never had it in him to be a main event player and the 1.0 gimmick had no legs past the Matt Facts.

Yeah the Edge feud validated that he was midcard for life.

Can't remember when they did their byte this conversation, but Matt came out of it looking alot worse than Edge/Lita.

He really did have the opportunity of a lifetime, and blew it.

Even had Vince introduce him in his return. :francis:

He killed a lot of his momentum with that whiny ass promo. Then Edge came back with one of his best promos of his career. Then it went downhill from there.

Here's a great breakdown of how Matt dropped the ball big time with his mediocre promo:

Wow rewatching that Matt 3:16 promo and yeah that was hella cringe worthy. When he said that line about him wanting to see Edge die in a car crash you heard Jim Ross immediately react like ":patrice:Oohh noo:whoa::snoop:" JR knew he fukked up with that line and there was no coming back. Michael Coleone on Godfather 3 said "Never let anyone know what you are thinking" and "Never let your emotions run you... it clouds your judgment" and I wish Matt listened to that now look at him.

I played that Byte This episode to my friend one day because he never seen it and it appauled him. Lita was there like :shaq2::scusthov: the whole time clearly not wanting to be there while Matt was ranting like a crazy motherfukker for 30 minutes and at the end my friend was like ":heh:No wonder Lita left him that motherfukker was crazy"

Yeah exactly. Most people will naturally sympathize with someone getting fukked over by their friend and girlfriend.

But they clearly didn't want to air dirty laundry online while Matt was all too happy to do it. Looked like a crazy emotional 15 year old, and by the end you actually felt bad for Edge/Lita.

Even Jeff has said on the record that he could see why Lita would want to dip, that Matt would start fights and spin it around so it wouldn't seem like his fault.
