All facts and Xscape was TLC.

Peep Kandi doing her best T Boz impression on their debut single

Jermaine explained in his book that Xscape was patterned directly to be a "hood version of En Vogue" where all the members could sing lead equally and it wasn't a "leader."

While that Kandi verse does sound TLC-ish, you also gotta remember that JD actually helped created and develop TLC. If we're being honest, TLC was dressing just like a female Kris Kross.

You can also chalk up Xscape's look to the 1993 "Everybody Turns Gangsta" thing that happened. It's a dope thread about that on here receny.

It's kinda simar to Puffy being the brains behind both Mary J and Faith or Jodeci & 112.

I didn't really notice it as much at the time as a kid because everybody was on that gangsta/g-funk tip and it all kinda blended together (Biggie, Domino, Snoop, etc).

Plus Da Brat was the very first hard female rapper to debut with a legit push and make catchy singles (Boss was underground). Brat was the first solo female rapper to go platinum.

I didn't really get it until a lil later when people were asking her about it in interviews and magazine articles.

As people have already posted, this video had a shot at JD @ :20

It's also why JD and Snoop collaborating together for the MIB soundtrack was kinda big
