No clue. I think that was just to show how much flex prop joe really had. Remember the connect in the court house, that gave him documents before raids would happen? He had reach almost everywhere.

The money was "cleaned" through the church. They took the dirty money and deposited it in their account for a percentage and when the dealers needed it they withdrew it.

His mole was the white dude who got busted in season five that had the gambling problem.

This....

Its one of the few things I didn't like about The Wire, Marlo's whole storyline comes off as unrealistic to me, sort of like Omar's... Out of nowhere this young bul comes and takes over the city with a small crew of cold blooded killers and you expect me to believe the OGs wouldn't have murked his ass as soon as he started pullin' that bullshyt?

The game doesn't work like that... Its like the writers wanted to create this mythical character... Notice he's not as complex as Avon or Stringer or Prop Joe... all very well written characters. Marlo on the other hand is shown as the villain who doesn't have a weakness or cares about anything...

They must not had a lot of time to write his character is my explanation, maybe he wasn't part of the original storyline and they rushed him in an effort to prolong the series because of its success
What OG’s? Avon was in jail and String didn’t give a fukk. They didn’t have muscle to keep Marlo off their corners.

Marlo’s crew and their tactics represented the new breed vs oldschool(Barksdale crew)

New Bree’s was all about execution and end result. Avon was about reputation and longevity

Marlo took over fast and got shut down fast because you can’t muscle your way for too long. Only thing unrealistic was him becoming Stringer at the end

They set up Marlo good imo.

He even said Avon was weak right now.

That's how he came up so quick, he had no one to Challenge his rise.

And they did everything surgically. Killing hella people but no bodies to be found. Barksdale crew was purposely leaving bodies to send a message.

I like how Marlo never had a spot. Would just pop outta random locations and hit somone up for a ride....like he was just appearing outta nowhere

Marlo and nem left plenty of bodies in the street to send a message. Especially Bodie and the New York dudes that was hustling in BMore.

He had someone to challenge him but Stringer kept undermining Avon and the Barksdale muscle wasnt as good as it was in the prior seasons.

Marlo would've been history had Stringer not pulled that fukk shyt with Brother Mouzone

Exactly... Marlo's rise was perfect...

He was Eastside and Avon had the East on lock... West didn't fukk with East and East didn't fukk with West.. So with Avon gone, his best muscle locked up, the streets was wide open. Still he could have got ended quick.. But Stringer was on the peace talk bullshyt. Which gave Marlo more time to click up.

Remember he was beefing with anybody on the west, so they had no reason to send shooters. When Avon got home, String FINALLY tells Avon that Marlo got damn near half the corners. Not only that, Stringer was LETTING him do it. That's how he took over

Soon as Avon touched down, they set this nikka up with the girl, just didn't plan on Marlo's crew showing up early. Then they caught his crew with Cutty... Didn't plan on Cutty p*ssying out. Then Avon had them nikkas alone at the car shop, with a thorough crew ready to kill, and had nikkas with automatics and grenades...... When Stringer's 911 snitching ass got him locked up again

Marlo was 10 minutes from being out of there. Now Avon and String gone, he runs the East. Now West gotta deal with him, or kill him. Problem is Chris is military trained, training their team to shoot, run and do warfare, while everyone else couldn't even run the NYC cats out.

Again Marlo and Joe wasn't rocking. Marlo said fukk him too and they was gonna go to war. But Joe canme with the raid documents and begged Marlo to help them kill NYC cats in Bmore. Once he made that deal, he couldn't go backwards. He had to keep it peace cause Marlo's team was too strong. They was killing nikkas for rumors man. Them old cats wasn't on that level

Kinda like gangs now out here reckless and killing everything. But you used to have rules and some sort of gang code, even with enemies. Young boys ain't hearing that shyt no more

That too... Stringer being in charge, truly fukked up the whole Barksdale organization for years to come. Him sitting on his hands and letting Marlo run shyt.. Then running off his best and only shooter. Then locking up his boss. He was a goddamn fool... Smart dumb nikka. And everything Avon was telling him was absolutely correct... Not hard enough and not smart enough
