Nothing terrible happened to me personally in 2020 but just witnessing everything go down just changed me. We saw ugly on every front that year. Between the pandemic, civil unrest, and the first/second worst Presidential election (depending on what day you ask me) that I took part in, I think any ounce of faith I had in humanity died that year. When people in the future ask me what I did when Covid hit, I’ll just say, “I begrudgingly put on a mask and went to work. That’s all I could do.”

My theory why the U.S. is becoming more passive aggressive

Economy. We're recently heading into a second recession. Impoverished times lead to violent crimes. The wolves are getting more aggressive day by day. This can also be due to lack of stimulus checks and unemployment. When people don't have money, one will resort to come up on anyone that has resources. Recently here in NY, a lot of elders have became victims of being robbed, stabbed and killed to death just for spare change.

Influx of Incels. Due to the number of lonely men not being acknowledged nor loved, some have exerted towards violence to release their anger and hatred. Innocent women have been targeted to senseless killing.

Diet. Magnesium deficiency is a major problem in the American diet. Why? Magnesium is a crucial element known to calm the nerves. Without abundance of Magnesium, this leads to a toll of mental health. (Study: Half of All Americans are Magnesium Deficient

Weather can also be a fourth factor. People are more quick tempered in colder climates.

there's several studies per year discussing the failing mental health of modern society, the increase in lack of community, decrease in life satisfaction, human closeness and intimacy, decline in marriage and sexless marriages, loss of third spaces, etc...+ prices that are rising to levels that are unsustainable even for couples, let alone if you're living as a single adult. finally we are more polarized, everyone sinks deep into their siloed interests and echo-chambers and there is less uniting us, even at a superficial level (take music for example). it's not hard to see why people interact so poorly with others after a two year stint that only exacerbated all of these issues.
Also increases in deaths from "Diseases of Despair". So many people out here drinking, drugging and even eating themselves to death to get away from their mental pains.

You see it with people driving like maniacs out there.

Yeah, that's a major place I notice it. People became way worse on the roads.

I think it was a combination of people getting more stressed, people engaging in angry interactions online, and people reacting against feeling restrained so they think their "freedom" means doing a$$hole shyt to others.

Yup, it definitely made people become more a$$holey. I know I've become more annoyed with people.
One of my friends called me out last year, and she said that I had become more jaded and pessimistic about things recently. I thought about that for a while afterwards and she was not wrong. I used to be more sociable and outgoing with a smile on my face. We're almost three years removed from 2020 and I'm still not back to that place that I was prior to that horrible year. :wow:

I know Ive changed, but part of me remains the same. I’ve become Ill tempered at times and more angry. My anger isn’t bad, but compared to how I was a decade ago, there’s definitely a difference.

There’s been positives too, But I will say my anger did cause me to make a stupid decision that I regret. :francis:

No, it's been a slow process that I've been observing since the 70's. Yeah, it's anecdotal, but considering we used to greet each other with 'Hey, Brother/Sister...' and now it's, 'What's up, nikka...'

Used to think it was just 'White' people, but, came to the realization that EVERYBODY is angry and takes that anger out on everyone around them IRL or online.

Slightly disagree with someone and watch what happens.
Was gonna mostly agree with u but when u put it like that :lupe:

:troll:

Nah seriously though this is 110% spot on no :troll:

No sense of community anymore, across the board. Even the :lupe: and :ld: communities u can sense a coldness toward each other, despite getting on code, any sense of unity seems artificial. Maybe it always was. Maybe folks today are just not as good at masking it. Especially online where one can be as big an a$$hole as they like with virtually zero consequences to have to worry about.

Covid exposed every illusion in our every day life and most were forced to deal with and fix their situations or to try to further deny or go deeper in their traumas, bad habits, bad ideas etc. if you was someone that already knew and understood how dirty phony evil and fake some people really are u wasnt surprised but those who didnt i felt it fukked them up and we are still dealing with the new reality.

Like brehs in here already saying they felt it or someone told them something about themselves that they didnt like so circles became smaller or non existant. If u had real stability before the pandemic it got stronger but if it was weak it was broken. Couples i knew either broke up/divorced or had their 1st or another child

Personally
Isolation recquired a lot of internal reflection
Once people realised that after 90+ days
They dont need to go out and turn up to survive, a lot of their social interactions were viewed as quite superficial.

Now i can go days without having a phone conversation that i dont actually need to have. Unless its my mum i have to talk to her everyday
