. Has Pelle really died in NYC, Chicago and the rest of the Midwest which kept the brand alive for literally decades with black dollars going to a black owned clothing label.
Damn, didn't know that.

What happened though? Did high end really kill classic hood fashion? It seem like it. Everybody who use to wear Pelle leathers, True Religions and Nike Boots wearing Balenciagas and Moncler coats. Even though Moncler and Gucci have made it clear they don't want black people wearing their shyt.
That crowd got older and younger people found their own styles.
Young Black men set fashion trends. Companies were reluctant to accept that in my era, but the success of Black owned brands in the 90s and rap taking over the mainstream later, made them grudgingly accept reality. Now they accept it, to the extent that it drives business to them.
Yes. They've been alive since the late 80s/early 90s. All the dopeboys did/still wear them.
MJ and his success in selling shoes to all ages, is a unque case. But young black folks still wear all the retro Jordan's, Nikes, Filas etc. this 15 year old bytch was staring at my Jordan 13's and told her friend they were fake, she didn't know they were the actual OG Jordan 13's from 1997.
Wait, how can a brand that's big in those markets be considered regional?Pelle leathers always been regional phenomena. Detroit, NYC and Chicago shyt really. I've never known any other cities to be really up on em like that.
you could have did some damn researchDamn, didn't know that.
Yeah Im not sure if the DC area was on Pelle Pelle as hard as other places I recall very few people with them in the early 90s.I ain't never heard of that and I've lived in Maryland for hella long. But then again, I moved to Maryland in the late 90's. So I don't how it was in the early 90's. I know Baltimore nikkas were on Avirex like that in the late 90's and early 2000's. People on here musta never been to NYC when it's cold outside. Harlem known for them shyts especially. Cam'Ron, Juelz, Jimmy, Big L, Mase and ven Dave East wore them all the time. I know Pelles are synonymous with the Bronx.
Yeah I NEVER got the impression Pelle was black owned there was nothing to indicate that to me. Like I don't recall their designs or colorways being particularly with the afrocentric trend of the 90s.
VLAD Tv has some informative interviews about Urban Street Wear from the 90s and what happened. He has interviews with the black founders of Cross Colours and Karl Kani. Plus Freshed Dressed on Netflix touched on it a little. What happened though? Did high end really kill classic hood fashion? It seem like it. Also I think the OP is wrong about Pelle Pelle relevance at certain points they became pretty played out by the late 90s from what I recall.
