also, i hope people remember these events when governmental forces are pushing for a "closed/policed" internet environment and companies like sony are supporting it
this is gonna end badly for everyone

Oh there Is something they can do. Reduce cost of their service that is evidently defenseless against such easily occurring downtime. Time to re-evaluate what we pay for.
Or how about they catch these a$$holes, cause im taking a wild guess and not sensing much is being done in their pursuit, since this is serving the interests of the corporations that cant wait to lock up the internet. Enrage the gamer crowd and the next SOPA is gonna get passed. I am just not sensing a serious effort to remove these hackers. I mean they have been allowed to actively advertise on twitter for months now. Twitter is probably in on the whole fukking thing.

three months ago I would have told you the internet should not be regulated and ISPs should not tier their connections and limit what we can do with it. After today, I feel like we as a free market ruined the beauty of the internet and now it HAS to be regulated by the government just so we can use it.
Sadly I can agree with points from these posts (I don't agree with all of the points)
Once the next piece of legislation comes to police or lock down the Internet or Net Neutrality discussions happen again expect companies like Sony and Microsoft to be 100% behind the legislatiors pushing the new laws due to events like these and the 2011 PSN outage that take money out their pocket and bring storms of bad press for them and good press for their competitors (in Sony's case Microsoft,Steam, and Nintendo for weathering the attacks and coming back relatively quickly while PSN is going on 3 days being out for the majority of people)
People will be upset but have jokers like LS and groups similar to them to blame for all the companies they thought were on their side supporting the legislators pushing for these new laws cause LS and other related groups wanna take money out of the corporations pockets and bring bad press and thus the corporations are acting in own their best interest by supporting legislation that would eventually police/lock down the Internet so things like this won't affect them as harshly again
