This is not about console wars but it's about those multi billion dollar company who don't wanna invest in DDOS protected servers cut they cost a little more. Meanwhile were being charged to play online. This is unacceptable. I don't care which side you're on but this is just disgraceful. Let's file a petition and get that class action lawsuit money. That's unacceptable.

It's 2014 and you tell me my server can't be knocked offline but Sony and MS servers can get hit offline ? I know it's hundreds of Em running a script but if they had better protection those kids would just be wasting their time and money.

I don't know much about how ddos protection like cloudfare works so i'm not sure if it would work on gaming servers. What i do know is microsoft has a lot of internet expertise and security experience. Messing with them is probably a bad idea.

This sets a bad precedent that these kids can get what they want by attacking whatever services until their demands are met. Also these idiots on social media need to stop favoriting and retweeting stuff from LS because attention is all they want and if you starve them of attention they'll go away. Unless Kim Dotcom has an ulterior motive in this I don't see the point of this

Making everyone believe that Live/PSN could come back cause they're "fighting" LS and getting even more attention

I seriously doubt Sony/MS care at this point seeing as A) Live and PSN are always brought to their knees on Christmas due to the flood of new users B) retailers were closed yesterday and thus people couldn't return/get refunds on their PS4/XB1 and the services are back up now

so I really don't think we'll see compensation on either side. Me personally I'd rather Sony/MS do work on Live/PSN so shyt like this can be prevented or lessen the impact so we don't see another episode like this or at least the downtime isn't all day and a few hours max and a pop up in the XB1 Dashboard/PS4 XMB alerting users that Live/PSN are having issues and that the issue is not with your console/home network and will be back soon could at least calm kids and parents down so christmas isn't ruined and parents don't feel like they wasted $4-500

Sony and MS should be embarrassed tbh. Steam and Nintendo's network stayed up just fine (yeah yeah nobody has a Wii U )

Steam was hit yesterday as well but was down for like 5 mins max according to Neogaf and that's prob because Gaben and Co at Valve actually prepared in case an attack was launched on Steam. Sony and MS had plenty of time to prepare due to LS talking about the attack for like a month on Social Media. If Sony and MS want to be more like Steam they should also take notes on how steam handles threats and big holidays as well
