Nah. This was a perfect storm event where some way/some how Metro got Kendrick to come out of hibernation and do what a loooot of dudes in the industry clearly been waiting on him to do. That clip of Travis asking Metro to play the song (Like That) before it came out told me everything I needed to know. Most of these dudes do NOT fukk with Drake, they just had no means to do anything about it until Metro got the one guy with the clout/industry backing/fanbase/talent to do it.
Smartest thing Drake did was the "Metro shut your hoe ass up and make some drums" thing, but he failed to see the true genius in it: he should have dismissed everyone similarly, and focused on the main guy. Personally I think he targeted everyone because he was too p*ssy to make it a real 1v1. You listen back to the songs and it's clear he had more animosity towards Abel and Cash than even Kendrick. Major mistake. Add in the other mistakes (Taylor Made, the social media antics, the sloppy jabs in Family Matters, all of Heart 6) and that was that.
Drake thought he was entering the fight against a weakened Kendrick, perhaps him at his lowest (meh previous album, questionable recent bars, lack of focus, getting too weird, etc). Instead Kendrick turned the table and we all realized Drake was the one at his weakest. Whether it was the drugs or the yes men or the ghostwriters or the degenerate lifestyle...Drake simply had too many distractions and they tripped him up.
