Ok, we have to note....Spud Webb was a nice little guard and actually pretty strong for his small frame. Sometimes though it seems that after being in the dunk contest and playing "the little guy who can dunk"...he became a character......was his ball skills and acumen as a truly talented guard ever really celebrated after the dunk contest...or did he become a cartoon character after that...?

I just saw him at the bank by my job not too long ago....

REgarding the thread, if it did make him a "cartoon character", it made him alot more money than he would've had otherwise.

I wouldn't say that, I mean he did go on to have a pretty decent career and actually had skills (career average of about 10pts 5 assists...was in the league 14 years)

Well, people seem to only be impressed by Spud Webb winning a Dunk Contest (that 'Nique should have won, but that's neither here nor there) as a 5'7" (if that) guard, when they should be incredibly impressed by his ability to last for years in the league at that size.

And people on this site and all over the Internet talk about Nate Robinson as a sideshow act and whatnot when he's actually a VERY good basketball player. Not better than Rondo, though. :usure:

I think Spud gets no respect for his game which was decent. Everytime u hear him it's always former dunk champion. If you don't know the game you wouldn't even realize that this man played in the league for like fourteen years. Had to be doing something other then dunking in order to last that long.

People said Spud was an excellent defender during his time....maybe thats why he was in the league for so long
