I'm probably copping a PS4 first day

But I'm curious to know how its GPU will compare to my PC's GTX680...........like what equivalent Nvidea GPU would a PS4 be working with?
its not a fair comparison because they can write code on a PS4 that's optimized for the hardware because everyone has the same specs. where as a PC game can't. they can use a weaker card than a 680on the PS4 but get better performance.

Please clarify for an ignorant noob such as myself

It doesn't matter ultimately. You're not going to be able to change graphical settings on consoles. The game is gonna look good but if it's multiplat and your PC can handle it, get it on there. Soon as PS4 drops and I peep how PC ports are handled, I'm upgrading my video and CPU. For now though I'm good I can play all latest games fairly smooth. I can rock Crysis 3 1080P on medium settings.

AMD and Nvidia aren't putting out new graphics cards this year so unless you plan to get a Titan whatever you cop when the PS4 drops will be outdated in less than a year.

my plan is whenever the two put out their next series of cards i'll sell my 670 and but the equivalent of the 680 of the new series of if the price of a Titan comes down a few hundred i'll buy that.

This card doing me good. Right now on Tomb Raider I can play on ultimate settings @ 1080P minus high precision, depth of field and tressfx while hitting 40-60fps most of the time. This is before Nvidia releases their performance patch for this game too.

I'm not worried about being outdated as that's inevitable. As long as it can give me performance and visuals that surpass PS4 multiplats I'm good. People bring up cards being "outdated" but I'm not in a race to have the most cutting edge rig at the moment. Hell I hope GTA V comes out this year on PC so I can test out my rig on it. If Crysis 3 ran smooth I'm sure GTA V will be no issue.

funny most PCs are shytty OEM builds, and even those will still outperform the PS4 a good chunk of the time.

30fps target this generation... :heh:

the keyword is "most". "most" pc's are crappy laptops with integrated GPU's. the most popular GPU in the last Steam Hardware Survey was the Intel HD 3000

I expect @GoldenGlove to point out that discrepancy in the thread title

Right, its like those infomercials for "starting a toy product company like Wham-o" then in small print it says "success like those mentioned are unusual and not likely"

Mowgli is an idiot....

all i'm saying is this generation of cards is about at its end its better to wait for the next generation than pay what they're asking for one this generation at the end of it.

there are posters on Gaf talking about using 3 Titans in SLI with an overclocked 3820 @ 4.5 Ghz and at 1080p 120 hz Crysis 3 still has troubles so i wouldn't look to that game for any reference on anything.

:what: That must be some error or issue on the user. I seriously doubt it because on very high all settings at 1080P my frames are in the teens. If a Titan which is SIGNIFICANTLY more powerful than my card in SLI is having trouble with the game then something is wrong here.

Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan review incl. 5760x1080 and frametimes - Crysis 3 - 1920x1080 (+ frametimes) | Hardware.Info United States
i don't know you can't get 60 fps on a single Titan in Crysis 3 at the best settings possible. you can almost get 50 fps. i know anything over 30 is playable but to spend $1000 on just a graphics card and not be able to be rock solid 60 fps has to be disappointing.

if you wanna game on a computer get a desktop. any serious gaming on a laptop is just throwing money away. a laptop with a 680M in it cost like $1500+ for that same price or maybe less you can SLI two GTX680s in a desktop PC.
