Detroit natives been knowing this was about to happen years ago...:manny:

Also, as much as I hate to say it gentrification might be the only way that this city survives. Midtown, Woodbridge, Corktown and Downtown have be damn near totally transformed (for the better) because of it. If you black and in the city its best you get with some of these aggressive investors and be willing to work with some white/arab/latin folks because Detroit's day's as a "black city" are numbered i hate to say.

I have faith in Detroit. I don't want it to go under. It will hopefully follow the same recovery cycle as NYC through the 80's and 90's. Not sure how it'd go down, but people are extremely innovative. I'm sure there will be some amazing things around the corner.

Sell it all. No one here wanted to go under but everyone's being stubborn and unrealistic about sacrificing. :smh:

How much were they offering for the sale of Belle Isle again before they voted against it? :patrice:

Why even try to prop it up?

Just let it fester.

Sometimes you gotta cut it loose.

Not every city is meant to make it.

Not true, Nap

Sooner we realize we all in this bullshyt together,
the better off everybody will be.

What if it was your city?

This was heart-breaking

1. Its not

2. nikkas gotta make better moves. :obama:

I'm sorry. I understand the "history" of Detroit...but that doesn't mean we need to keep investing in something that doesn't want to help itself.

No one wants to live there. There are no jobs there. Theres nothing naturally desirable about that place.

At some point, people gotta be real with themselves.

Detroit ain't the move... Theres always Chicago.... :lolbron:

A pastor I know said this on FB:
So...Detroit filed for Chapter Nine Bankruptcy....are you surprised??
Let's see... The former Mayor is Federal Prison... Former Council woman just got out of jail..... The last two Police Chiefs were caught up in sex scandals and was either forced out or resigned... The openly Gay Council president abandoned his post and took off under sexual allegations.... Council pro-ten quit and joined the Emergency Managers team. ... The present Mayor will not seek election.... One of the leading candidates for Mayor has to have his name written in....poor leadership, greed and corruption abounds in a city with over 500 churches with about 100 on Puritan Avenue. You tell me what's wrong! I'm just saying but sho nuff praying!

The people that can help and can make a difference don't
have the resources to change the culture of the city, as a whole.

I honestly don't think it is all bad to write off the whole city
as a lost cause. Just get rid of those corrupt higher-ups, do away with
those burned up vacant homes, turn some parts into agriculture
and stop depending on the automotive industries, then maybe they
can restore itself as a city.

My problem with Detroit is they keep putting their hopes and dreams into
these drug-dealers, gangsters and auto industries. And they all either die,
get locked up or move away. Everyone keeps following the same corrupted
programming. It's like the one rotten apple that keeps spoiling the bunch:to:
