Nope. They've been on borrowed time for a while now. They're schtick has gotten real old, and I say that as a NY dude. Their podcast was a fun listen, but it's just gotten dreadful. It's literally them bragging about their bag without a format. They hired a bunch of writer for the show, so... take that for what it's worth. It might mean they're doing skits... which is just... eh.

I'll always give them a try, because they're from my city and pretty much came from nothing, but this is probably it for them as a group. It's only going to go down from here. I could already see the Twitter backlash when Shotime inevitably cancels them.


I think Mero is honestly funnier than Desus. Desus was cool and the funniest of the two for a long time, but dude just comes off as arrogant and lame now. Everything is "problematic" now. Like... bro... you guys got on by spitting regular NY shyt without a filter.

i like desus' personality better but mero is funnier with his impressions. As a Jamacian Desus' cringe worthy jamacian accent is hard to listen too a lot of the time.


And i agree their podcast is getting unbearable.....all they're doing is talking about the bag and their show....its annoying as fukk. At least when the joe budden podcast got their spotify bag they started stepping their conversation game up.

Nobody really talks about D&M or Brilliant Idiots anymore. They outlived their niche, or someone else (Joe) does everything they do but better.

meh in advance. we will revisit this thread in February tho. Last few months of the podcast have been dreadful but for their sake hopefully theyve been "saving" something for this show

Dreadful is a bit harsh but there have been quite a few skippable episodes or ones that I wished I skipped.

They are an online-first brand so if their show is a Showtime exclusive, I can't see it staying on for long.

Harsh truths aside, I saw them live and they are like 5x funnier in real life than on the show so I think they will always have a bag available even if it is just touring.

Granted I dont listen to the podcast religiously like I used to but the few times I check in, its still kinda funny

I see people talking about how they find them bragging about shyt and the problematic light being too much but thats also done in jest and pokng fun at themselves. I still prefer them over the Budden podcast. Yeah Joe's conversation can free flow but they also got their little corniness and I actually dont care for his opinions on Hip Hop knowing the biasness on it. Deus and Mero just sort of mess around and joke and took little fun improv impersonations and its funny.
I will say this though, Initially when I started getting into them I actually thought Mero was funnier but yeah nah I dig Desus more now but yeah they been fun, they just seem like some of your boys that you kick and joke with.

I dont know how the show will be with writers and it if helps or hurts them and waters them down. I think they work better as a more niche act and invariably when you become personalities who do more media you kinda oversaturate yourself and people wonder why the hell you keep getting invited to do different stuff (The Michael Rapport affect if you will, many NY celebs get this and I get that people outside of the city wonder why shows would invite those kinda personalities but I kinda like it)

No idea how they gonna do this, I feel like they might be corny if structured (didnt see them on Uncommon Sense so I dont know). I think if its formatted like politically incorrect on HBO where they spend time conversating casually with the guest then maybe its fine
