Look at it from the perspective of someone who plays ball. If you're just jogging up the court, taking possessions off, only shooting 3's when you excel at slashing, and all-around not putting forth effort on the court, are you trying? Are you not being nonchalant?

Rose isn't even trying out there, even if he never plays at an elite level, he will be playing better in the playoffs because he will at least put his all on the court.

Im not sure whats the problem with being skeptical of that right now

I also dont see why its acceptable to play half assed when your a max contract player

I think his slight regression in defense is a combination of a few things, 1 him getting back into game shape and dealing with younger quick guards who going hard at him, and 2. The regression of noah, rose not getting a lot of minutes with taj on the floor and pau being bad in rotating on defense. A guards defense is sometimes predicated on weak side help and how good your big man is at protecting the basket. It is not uncommon that rose jimmy kirk etc used to bait and send the person they defending to noah side so they can get the help but what has been happening all season is that the wings are sending guards to what is supposed to be the strong side and the help is not there. It's why it's been a few games where we have even seen jimmy get lit up. Just with jimmy he can switch and just play straight up and rose at this stage of his recovery still not there yet. Thibs system is based on team defense and team help, guys being in they spots on defense. I think that is a huge reason doug could never get on the floor.

Lot of pregame Q&A with Thibodeau centered on Rose's 3-pointers. Thibodeau wants blend and more midrange Js and drives.
