Actually the way the media and these teams work it can be both. I have mentioned on here for years how teams and media have dirt on players but keep it in their pocket for awhile until the time is right to do a hit job on them.

Hell I gave an example years ago on here how ESPN had the info on brandon roy not standing for the anthem and held it for a year or two then released a big hit piece on him not standing for the anthem. They released the hit piece on ESPN.com, but guess what that same day Tiger blond wife hit him with a golf club and that took over the news cycle.
