With Zeke though, I think Goodell tried to double jeopardy him from his college antics too.
True, but we're talking about 22 lawsuit cases here. That's an insane number to get off with light punishment.
The optics around the NFL (fair or not) are already that they don't take cases and allegations against women serious and essentially letting Watson off the hook will only fuel that narrative. That's the true reason why they are going to throw the book at him if only to save themselves from the PR nightmare.
Don't forget the precedent has already been set that they can suspend you even if you aren't charged or convicted of a crime. You can thank the NFLPA for that and also letting Goodell levy the punishment and be over the appeals process as well.

Even if Watson settles, I don't see any way Goodell gives him less than a six game suspension.

We'll never know if all of them are true or not if he settles before he makes it to court.

The incident was in March 2017, which was months before the 6 game suspension got levied.
The precedent has already been set by the NFL that you don't have to be convicted or charged of a crime to be suspended. Blame the NFLPA for that one.
