The issue is, it’s the women who get beaten, cheated on, the women who are tossed out when they start to look old or the kids are “grown”, etc. The men who joke about “trading in” wives, but they aren’t actually joking.

That’s why shelters for women/children exist and are always full; a lot of women do actually get screwed if they aren’t with a man they can fully trust for the rest of their lives.

Society likes to pretend that every housewife is living in some healthy dynamic and just walks out because she’s lost her mind or bored.

Education and careers provide a level of security and independence.


NOW- do I think that there needs to be more of a focus on family planning, child rearing, and creating healthy unions/families— YES, DEFINITELY! But stripping women of things that not only contribute to making one well-rounded, but also provide stability, nah. Not with that.

It’s not just about “slacking” tho. The issue is people change.

When a man has a desire for other women, or when he just gets tired of his housewife, what do ppl say? The wife has to fight for the marriage. Which means putting up with neglect, possible financial, emotional and physical abuse, etc. To fight to keep a union that the man (who is the sole provider) has decided that he’s done with.

It’s about security and dignity.
