Sports has always been entertainment. Arenas and stadiums are bigger than theatres. Most people arent entertained by sports in their purists form though...especially as entertainment options continue to grow. For some they arent entertained at all unless there is a certain player that catches their attention or the mob tells them they should be. So all sports strive to attract people even if the quality of the game has to be sacrificed. shyt pro wrestling used to be legit. But when they realized people were more invested in personalities, presentation, and conflict over actual competition they said fukk it and went all in on that and didnt even worry about competition part anymore. That was a good analogy and his point about sports now geared towards 'entertainment' is also on accurate.
There was nothing negative in his opinion, all former athletes from every sport feel the way, It's how you say it that's important.
He's not a bitter a$$hole and he knows how to talk to people. If you notice, its mostly the greats or dudes with delusions of being great with the hate. Because they are used to being the man (or thought they were), mad because they aint no more (or really never were). And since they always been the shyt they never developed perspective or social skills. Nobody ever told them "you on some bullshyt chill out". Dudes that werent stars all their life and/or super talented tend to have to learn how to talk to folks. He said what he felt without shytting on the current generation![]()

Claiming that 1990s/2000s NBA wasn't built for entertainment value, or that modern sports is less competitive, makes zero sense.
If anything, analytics has forced teams to be MORE competitive than before, not less. Modern analytics has teams trying to maximize the point value of every single play rather than allowing players to do their thing just because it looks good. I agree that the sport has changed, but it changed due to the demand for efficiency, not due to some increased need for entertainment.

And only an argumentative, contrary muthafukka would find an issue with what he said
He didn't say none of this in that clip.
