Took a trip over to the Vol Nation board and :whew: that might be the most dysfunctional group of fans ever. They really think Bob Stoops contacted ut thru back door channels for that job:snoop:

that's one moronic member that started that thread

1/100 in the coaching speculation board.

most fans are optimistic for gruden, but don't think it's going to happen

a great majority are convinced that UT is done

2 of last 4 years Fat Phil missed bowls. Tennessee need to go after defensive minded coach I would say give coach Stoops from FSU a shot but I don't know if they wanna deal with a rookie HC at this point in time.

They can't afford it.

Fulmer needed to go he was a relic. What has he done since..........

The AD said today that money is not an issue. Boosters are going to break out the check books. Dooley's buyout has been accounted for since last year's loss to Kentucky.

The Haslams said that they would front the $5M bill if UT wanted to get rid of Dooley. His buyout has been on the AD's desk since Dooley lost to a WR PLAYING QB for KENTUCKY. The first loss to the Wildcats in 26 years.

Sad how bad the Vols have fallen off

CFB, like most things, is cyclical. They might be back. Things are different in post-2000 CFB than they were when UT was a great program.

AD also said that they're looking for a head coach with experience, they aren't really looking for young new guys.

Also basically said it will be done some point next month.

No offense but what is he supposed to say? "We can't afford our number one target :manny:

Gruden leaving MNF by December :heh:

:ohhh:

it was statsically that bad?

:to:

Tennessee hasn't had 3 sub 500 years in over 100 years.
Tennessee hasn't lost to KY in 26 years
Tennessee hasn't lost to Vandy in Nashville in 32 years.

Since 2009, the Vols are 0-12 against Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

Oh and let's not forget James Franklin has more SEC wins this season (5) than Fooley has in 3 (4).

Never won a game when trailing at halftime

Three years into the Dooley regime the degree of incompetence is still staggering. After coaching 22 SEC games, Derek Dooley has the same number of SEC wins, four, as Lane Kiffin did in his lone season as Vols coach in 2009. In 2008 Tennessee fired Phillip Fulmer, who went 3-5 in the SEC. In his final season as Vol coach Fulmer posted one less SEC win than Dooley has in three years. Yep, Tennessee fired a coach who was 152-52 overall, a year removed from a late fourth quarter SEC title game lead against national champion LSU, and ultimately replaced him with a guy who was 17-20 in the WAC.

Tennessee is the first team in SEC history to allow 38 or more points in six straight conference games.

Ever!

Dooley is now 4-19 as an SEC coach, 1-14 in his last 15 SEC games.

If Tennessee fired Derek Dooley today, the school would have paid him $2.75 million per SEC win.

If they did hire Gruden he wouldn't necessarily have to quit MNF ont he spot. He could still finish out that season and bounce.

And the boosters are going to front the cash. Too much in Knoxville depends on the state of the program. Everyone is losing money there, they need to team to fill all 102,000+ seats, get in the business around there and spend money.

There's no money in losing.
