but will smith is leaps and bounds better. . .enemy of the state, i am legend, men in black, independence day, pursuit of happiness, bad boys I & II, and so many more
plus the scene in fresh prince of bel-air when his pops walked out on him again
that speech on how he would become a better man than his father could ever teach him

Denzel is the better actor but I would rather see a WS film. Daniel Day Lewis IMO is better than both, because he hasn't saturated his career with trash films.

Honestly, I can never choose between these two. Will Smith has so much range in his movies, but Denzel really makes me believe he's the character.

That last scene with Denzel in training day is what got him that Oscar
Denzel has made 0 movies that have flopped, so he gets my vote.

Denzel has never been a massive box office draw UNLESS he teams with a counterpart. For the most part, he carries films by himself.
Also Will has yet to do a Shakespeare adaptation movie, Denzel was in Much Ado About Nothing.
I've always enjoyed Will Smiths movies more.
Theres a good argument on why either one is the better actor. Like people have said...I believe Denzel in his roles more...but at the same time his roles are usually pretty similar. Will Smith tends to play a wider variety of characters.

Havent seen Wills range yet.
Only real acting (character portrayal) for me has been 6 degrees and Pursuit.
He was haming it up in that After Earth movie...
Everything else is a reinvent of his Fresh Prince Personas, from bad boys, independance day to MIB etc...
6 degrees, pursuit, 7lbs, and ali probably show him at his best. he was even pretty good in made in america.
