Life is absurd. Lean into it.
Yeah, the people absolutely need to step up as well, because if I was a politician I wouldn't put my career, freedom, and potentially my life on the line if I knew no one would appreciate it.You're absolutely right that Democrats need to do better at engagement, especially in ways that reach disaffected voters. There are millions of voters out there who don't vote for either party, and Democrats need to find ways to connect with them using every reasonable platform, or else they'll keep losing people to apathy. I completely agree that other forms of media are key, and that if they don't start taking it seriously, they'll keep ceding ground to the right. You're right that they need to find a simple way to deliver that message too.
I also understand what you mean when you say Democrats are too caught up in procedure and perception. But I think that overlooks how Trump is actually wielding power. He's reshaping the government through executive action to dismantle the bureaucracy itself. I think that's something that needs to be conveyed to the public at large as well. But a lot of people don't want to hear that.
And as for alternative media, Trump and the right already have a massive foothold there. It's not something they're planning to take over, it's something they've already done. Democrats are playing catch-up, and they need to recognize just how much the information landscape has changed. That doesn't mean they've lost all opportunities, but if they don't act fast, the gap will only grow wider.
That's also where voters need to step up. Yes, Democrats need to be more effective at reaching people where they are, but at the same time, people have a responsibility to be engaged and informed. If voters passively absorb misinformation or ignore hard truths, no amount of good messaging will fix that. It has to be a two-way effort. Too many people rely on headlines, soundbites, or outright misinformation instead of seeking out a deeper understanding. Yes, messaging needs to be clear and accessible, but people also need to be willing to engage critically with the information they consume.
As far as meeting voters where they are, this is an absolute necessity. Younger generations consume media differently, and democrats are caught up with old media. You're not getting Gen Z and millennials by going to the NYT, 60 Minutes, and Meet the Press. No one under 50 is following that shyt... (I do, but I'm a political nerd). Gen Z men are all on the alt-right pipe, and although they are, I believe a lot of them are reachable.
