A lot of these political losers just go get other lucrative jobs as lobbyist, TV pundits, and the like. Most of it is a dog and pony show and it doesn't matter if they win or lose to them. The really powerful ones like Jeffries, Schumer, Pelosi they're there until they decide to retire from politics. The middle and lower tier ones if they lose they got something nice lined up.

The US is the only major power in the developed world without universal healthcare and it spends more on healthcare and has worse outcomes. There is really no logical argument against universal health care. The donors don't want it because it would hurt their pockets so the political parties fight against it and try to indoctrinate the public to be against it to serve the donors.

Our political process is too far gone and it's about how to manipulate the system to serve the rich and powerful rather than looking out for the country's citizens and fixing problems. You gonna have some disagreements between the political parties but they aren't really that far apart on most issues.
