A white man/woman in rural Louisiana is not gonna listen to ANYTHING a leftist offers them. Ya progressives don’t understand, these “working classy Americans” aka racist white ppl only listen to FOX NEWS/OAN/BREITBART/THE BLAZE. U can have the greatest message of all time, they still will not listen.
I think we could probably reach the millions of people who don't vote for either party or consume right-wing media. Choosing a deep-red state like Louisiana to make that argument overlooks the many purple/swing states where people are disillusioned with both parties and may be open to different ideas. We could try focusing on these areas to not just turn out white voters, but disillusioned non-white voters as well. Only 64% of the 239 million eligible voters turned out in 2024. Even fewer vote in midterms. That's almost 86 million eligible voters we could target.

Dems in Michigan and Minnesota lost seats after implementing a slew of progressive policies. Sherrod Brown also lost his seat despite being very pro worker, and Kamala (if I'm remembering correctly) did better in Vermont than Bernie.

If your theory is correct, why did all this occur?
But people in various states (Missouri!) voted for those polices specifically, like abortion. This means its a marketing and personality problem.

:jbhmm:I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm breh, but many people in red states seem to fall into the mindset of "I'm okay with voting for someone in power who will harm others, as long as I’m not affected." They tend to support policies that benefit themselves but they will vote for politicians who will hurt certain groups of people, as long as they believe those politicians will only target the "right" kind of people:mjpls:.
Crystal Minton, a secretary at the prison who is also a single mother caring for disabled parents, had a somewhat different reaction — one that reveals an essential truth about the core Trump’s political appeal.

“I voted for him, and he’s the one who’s doing this,” Minton told Mazzei. “I thought he was going to do good things. He’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting.”:mjpls:

He’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting.

Think about that line for a second. Roll it over in your head. In essence, Minton is declaring that one aim of the Trump administration is to hurt people — the right people. Making America great again, in her mind, involves inflicting pain. This is not an accident. Trump’s political victory and continuing appeal depend on a brand of politics that marginalizes and targets groups disliked by his supporters. Trump supporters don’t so much love the Republican party as they hate Democrats, a phenomenon political scientists call “negative partisanship.” They like Trump not because he sells them on the GOP, but because they believe he’ll stick it to the Democrats harder than anyone else.
