The boom of cartoons in the 80's was exactly because of that. The deregulation of tv advertising by the Reagan administration allowed for those 30 minute cartoons as advertisements of the toys along with the commercials in between to give us full blown storylines to run with when we went and got all that shyt. Them after school and Saturday morning cartoons was the earliest stage of propaganda advertising, and we loved every minute of it:russ:

... And still do:lolbron:
Yeah I know. The cartoons were just the marketing for the big lick which were the toys.... .. Finding that out when you are grown was mindblowing and downright insidious. But it's so addictive we still here craving the cartoons.... madness... :russ:

Right! That's the crazy part. They got us so early and it's so ingrained in my childhood that I will still get sucked down a YouTube rabbit hole of watching toy collectors and videos about how a particular cartoon came about every once in awhile. That shyt still got a stranglehold on us:mjcry::francis::yeshrug:
