That's a role model of what it means to be a teammate.
I really hope the teams I coached felt this way about me and their fellow players too.
Coming into reading this I thought it was gonna be like that Thundercats Mo Williams story from last year on here
Ha - that's exactly what I thought too. Before I even opened it I looked to see if Walt had written it.
care more about being loved than winning titles breh....
how about care more about the well being of a fellow black man than a title. You know, the way it should be.
Believe it or not, it's possible to be both a successful player and a good teammate. Tired of this, "you need to be a cutthroat dikk to be successful" narrative, spoken like a true fukkin chump who never played a lick of sports growing up.
Yeah you have to be cut throat and be a a$$hole ..... I never got that .... It's like you can't be a decent human being and you get crowned on...
The narrative comes from people who are a$$holes, or who want to stan for a$$holes, and are trying to look for some excuse for their a$$hole behavior.
In my experience, success in the material things of life has little to do with character. Jerks and genuinely good people both make it to the top in every field.
Of course, the jerks tend to fail to succeed in the parts of life that significantly matter - actually finding happiness, having a good relationship with your girl, raising good kids, being an asset to the community, etc.
Kobe and mj are better players and they dont take paycuts to win rings while lining owners pockets
Kobes last contract set the tone and will generate BILLIONS of dollars for black families over the next few decades
Wait, what?
Kobe didn't take that money from his owner, he took it from the other players that would have gotten paid if the Lakers had had the cap space to sign them.
And Lebron is a model the way he's kept his money in his circle and in his community and gained influence throughout the business world instead of letting so many agents and others make money of off him like most players used to.
How is Kobe's decision going to generate billions of dollars for Black families? You know what's actually going to generate money for Black families? The new contract that CP3 and Lebron are going to negotiate next year.
