it was a set up from the beginning, sonnen has been getting ready and they tried to pull a fast one on him

Dana white wants sonnen to win so bad this wouldn't surprise me. He hates both silva and jones but they are the goat fighters with the title so there is nothing he can do about it.
This whole thing is manufactured as fukk, but those pieces of shyt ufc "fan", expect jones to just roll over and accept a fight with chael who doesn't deserve it.

I've said it before, but Dana White, from a business/promoter standpoint would give his right arm to be Vince McMahon. He'd love to be able to puppeteer UFC and control who has the belt/who is the face of the company.....it was all goo when Lesnar was winning, but even in that scenario, he was GIVEN the main event spot without having to work for it.

...or maybe Dan Henderson kept it a secret on the off-chance that he recovered from the injury and could actually proceed? I mean, it's a big fight.

To agree with the OP, you'd have to assume that:

1. Dan Henderson co-signed on intentionally fukking over another fighter, with no direct benefit to himself (that we know of).

2. Chael Sonnen is somehow in Dana White's good graces after failing a drug test and then losing to Silva in spectacular fashion. Dana has never had love for juicers that have been caught.

3. Given Chael Sonnen's attention-seeking and juvenile nature, his tweet towards Jon Jones wasn't just an outburst from a guy in Hendo's camp trying to rile Jones, but some kind of calculated warning shot. If he REALLY wanted to surprise Jones, why the fukk would he tweet him at all? Why would he give him any advance indication that he was going to fight him? That, in and of itself, basically ruins the argument. That is, unless you'd want to argue that Jones ALSO knew in advance that Dana would do this...but if he knew in advance, then he would have presumably had the full 3 weeks to get ready, which deflates his cited reason for turning down the fight.

I don't know why UFC is trying to push Sonnen. Yea he can talk in front of a camera but nobody wants to watch him lay on people and not finish fights for 25 minutes.

No it doesn't. If anything, maybe the situation backfired. Maybe the plan was for Sonnen to tweet that Jones was scared to fight him, then Jones would reply, then the back and forth would ensue.....THEN once the injury was officially announced, maybe Jones would fall into the trap and accept the fight with Sonnen.

Makes sense to me rather than Dana just pulling Sonnen's name out of the sky and having every one like :wtf:

Like I said, Dana admires the part of WWE/F where the promotion is concerned and building stars/personalities. Even boxing was great at this in the past. Sonnen has a book he just wrote that's out, he's a big talker, I heard Joe Rogan refer to him as an "American Hero" on his podcast. Think about how MANY people ordered that Sonnen/Silva fight just b/c all of his trash talking....they were saying it was the most anticipated main event in UFC history.

Without personalities, UFC continues to trot out a bunch of no names that the non-hardcore MMA fan (like myself) could care less about b/c I have no connection to them.

True. Hate Sonnen if you will but the guy's smart. Silva's one of my favorite fighters of all time...but I have Sonnen in my top 10 of people I'd love to see on a card because I follow the press conferences, weigh-ins, and such.

If you listen to him after the Silva II and on Joe Rogan's podcast, he's actually pretty humble and he gives people their due. He's kind of like the Steve Austin of MMA. He just knows how to sell a fight. Dana White says that the first fight helped sell the rematch, but you can't discount Sonnen's skills in promoting. Dude keeps things interesting...I definitely would've watched Jones/Sonnen on 8 days notice. :yeshrug:

He did, he was still training through the injury. It was a UFC appointed Dr who didn't clear him to fight. When Dan fought Jake Shields, he had injured his back but still went ahead..If Dan was 100% there is no way that Jake would have beaten him

Dana White has done a lot for for the UFC and the sport of MMA but I really don't think they can go as far as HE thinks the company can, with him at the helm. In the past I found his outbursts funny and refreshing, no I don't anymore. The Fertitta's need to tell him to chill out or get another figure head.

Chael knowing @danhendo was injured for weeks and training to fight Jones before word of injury came out is probably the biggest bullcrap the MMA world has ever heard of... My question: whats in it for Hendo? Having his buddy fight Jones? For what? Then fight Jones anyway (meaning he doesnt think Chael can win)? Or fight his buddy for the belt? Stupidest shyt i've ever heard! Chael stepped up with NO training on 8 days notice, Jones declined. END OF STORY

Dude takes things way too personally to be a figurehead. You cant be the head of an organization and talk shyt about your employees and throw them uner the bus when they dont agree with you, or do what you want.
