Deebo Samuel is 2nd in the NFL in receiving yards with 994, just 141 yards behind Cooper Kupp (1,141).
Samuel has 30 fewer receptions, though (55 to 85).

It's possible that he's been fortunate to break off long plays. But the potential around Samuel has always been there.

It is somewhat more remarkable given that Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance aren't known for airing it out.

It's really not. It's a straight up run 1st offense that most teams got away from. A run heavy version of the west coast offense. Same offense his dad ran only thing is motion which shouldn't fool anybody.
