Part of it is on Thibs . The previous game he turned the game over to rj when he was cooking . Tonight when he had his burst of scoring they didn’t go back to him until it was too late
And he's also reeaaally been ignoring their defensive effort which is weird. I don't give a damn about this 3pt offense we showed heart and looked to knock teams in the jaw last season. Where the hell is that??:mjtf::martin:

The effort is one of the biggest issues for me. The crowd was getting restless with the lack of boxing out and leaving three point shooters wide open. These dudes are acting like what they did last year will keep them in the fans good graces for this whole season. We'll go right back to booing ya asses if you don't play with effort.....Knicks fans don't play that. If you're gonna talk that talk, you better walk that walk in NY.

They were the victims of want to make THE pass and not the pass that leads to THE pass. Randle is especially guilty of that. You can see plays where he spots the double coming and waits to be trapped before he tries to pass out. Fournier does it too, purposely driving into traffic and then trying to squeeze a pass through a tight window. It's a habit that got these guys stripped over and over on drives or left them chucking up shots with barely a grip on the ball.

The bench guys just aren't seeming to get rhythm. I spent a chunk of last year worrying about too many cooks for everyone to get comfortable and it's worse this season because Burks and IQ seem like they're dominating even more touches to Rose's detriment. There were a bunch of plays where Burks drove at the screen, turned around and reset...then IQ did the same...then whoever got it next had a short shot-clock to force something up. These weren't the turnovers from that starting unit, but they were led to bad shots and just as many transitions for Toronto.

Burks and Fournier both need to be off-ball players that capitalize when the defense shifts too hard, not screen and roll ball-handlers for 1/3 of the possessions. Rose and Kemba need a greenlight to take over as floor generals since they'll make the right reads and get others into rhythm. Everyone needs to recognize that plays develop faster with multiple passes over one ball-handler trying to manufacture the assist. Trust the next man to make another pass instead of trying to dribble him wide open.

It’s not as simple as R.J. just taking it—Julius is a bigger and more polished/developed version of him and is eating away at isolation, mid-post touches, and transition opportunities that could go to Barrett. They are both left handed, bully ballers with sometimes jumpers and operate in similar spots of the floor. Between Julius and all our scoring depth…R.J. can easily get lost in the mix especially if his C&S corner three ball isn’t falling and he’s not getting transition looks as a ball handler or leak out guy.

This is why Toppin, a big that excels in quick hitting play types like P&R, DHO, C&S, post up drop steps, floor running/vertical spacing is the better fit with R.J. and our PG’s and should be groomed to supplant Julius by the time his rookie deal is done.

I don't understand how this wasn't automatic the moment they signed:mindblown:

Didn’t catch the game (thankfully) but It’s seems they play down to their competition and also have issues keep their foot on teams necks.

Also seems like the Knicks can’t get physically and lose energy when opponents do it.

Sounds like they need a goon with a mean streak. Keep in mind every player in the nba has a mean streak. They just need someone hyper aggressive with it.

Absolutely. We've seen this in like half of this handful of games to start the season. The lack of sustained energy, the overdribbling, lack of focus, lack of off the ball movement, boxing out...all stuff that comes to effort and focus, and it's obvious we're lacking in both departments way too often. Missing shots happens, but all that other stuff is inexcusable.

The fact that both our losses are at home against undermaned teams is really troubling. Starting to wonder if some of our players kind of play tight or too relaxed at the Garden. How can we get out-worked at home.

Julius needs the ball a lot to be effective.
He needs to be a finisher or at the very least more of a willing passer. He's been bad this year compared to last season actually trying to move the ball. His energy on the court is weird too and I don't like this sort of arrogance he is showing in the post interviews:hhh:
