It's been almost four years since Porzingis was traded from New York. He doesn’t seem to harbor any ill feelings toward the Knicks or the city at this point.
He says it will always be special to play at Madison Square Garden. And he has fond memories of his tenure, particularly his rookie season and the stretch early in his third year where he dominated the league.
“The Garden was just incredible,”
Porzingis said of a ten-game stretch to start the 2017-18 season. “That was some of the most fun I’ve had.”
Porzingis says things could have been handled differently during his Knicks tenure. Maybe the end result – a trade request and a move to Dallas – could have been avoided.
“It’s hard to say but yeah looking back now, things could have been done differently for sure,” he said. “Now that I’m older, smarter and understand what happened back then, it could have been done differently for sure.”
Porzingis hasn’t spoken publicly about his experience leading up to the trade. Knicks fans certainly remember his post on social media after the trade suggesting that the truth about the trade will come out.
