That signing got thrown out because it was a Sign and Trade and Bogdanovich didn’t even want to play for the bucks and could get more money as a FA. The kings literally agreed to that deal and didn’t ask Bog if he agrees like he was still under contract. shyt Bog wasn’t even a RFA, they had no rights to him. In the end ATL paid him more than he could have got in the S&T.

All these deals are done before free agency. The only ones that aren’t are second wave players after teams have struck out and players who actively want to be woo’d. Knicks had 3 deals lined up after they were made aware that KD and Kyrie weren’t coming weeks before free agency back in 19. FOH
As @nyknick said, Brunson and his camp should have taken that meeting even if they weren't going to take the Mavericks offer as you do that to prevent tampering allegations. That isn't new as players and even coaches taking meetings with other teams all the time knowing that they aren't going to accept them so that there are now rumblings of tampering.
The Knicks got sloppy with it and spinning it isn't going to change that narrative.
