Disingenuous stat bro. Grimes played mostly garbage time & in blowout loses for the most part before he got a real shot some time in December. And that was because Covid hit us. Don't do that lol. I would've cut Fournier's mins in half since he couldn't play D & couldn't throw the ball in an ocean. And that's the main issue with Thibs. He's a walking contradiction when it comes to W's, playing time, & accountability. Any other coach that had a rookie prospect on the bench that you know could play great D would've given him a look sooner; especially with 2 liabilities on D in your back-court in the starting lineup. The bonus with Grimes is he could hit the open 3

Fournier wasn’t the issue. He was losing minutes left and right all winter. The problem was Thibs was playing guys like Burks instead. We just brought back 2 too many vets this summer and blocked all avenue for some of the young guys to get solid rotational minutes while they built their confidence. My beef is when the wheels fell off, we should have pivoted. There was no reason to wait until after all star break to start giving the youth serious minutes.

Fournier & Kemba were a huge part of the problem early in the season bro; Kemba more so but Fournier was bad

I'm just gonna address the two points and leaves it alone because you're set in your beliefs.

1) Grimes:

11/7 - First 12 minute game he played the entire fourth quarter against the Cavs. Knicks were only down 14 at the time he came in the game. They cut it to 6 before the Cavs pulled away. Much like the preseason game, Grimes played well scoring 6 big points in the frame. He only got burn because the Knicks were losing bad and Kemba wasn't playing cause of the back to back

11/26 - Second time he got big minutes. He stunk it up offensively (and if I recall this game correctly he wasn't special on defense either) shooting 1 for 6 in 17 minutes. Despite that...

11/27 - Thibs threw him out there for 15 minutes in the win against ATL. He shot 1 for 3 overall, 1 for 2 from 3. Both these games D Rose was inactive for. Kemba only missed the ATL game

He played in every single game, whether it be spot minutes or regular bench minutes from November 21 to December 8th. Did not play in the one game against Toronto, and then got the start against Milwaukee where he scored 27. Then caught the VID. Again, with so many players deserving of minutes ahead of him. Not sure what more you could've expected. Thibs clearly liked him and tried to get him in games when he thought it prudent to do so. I keep listing all the guards and wings ahead of him to note that just because one plays poorly doesn't mean he instantly eats. Those minutes can get distributed to any regular rotation member who can play the 2-3

2) Fournier

I'm not sure why we forget this. Fournier was routinely BENCHED for the fourth quarters during his poor stretch. He even had a 19 minute game in November. Grimes never saw the court in that game.

This but I wouldn't phrase it that way. I always felt that the front office's plan was always to focus on IQ, Obi, Mitch, and RJ as the Knicks young core. And if there were any injuries to the starters, then the rookies could come in and play and that's how they'd be evaluated.
