People always point to this as a Run-DMC or Def Jam biopic, it's not.

Def Jam was all of one year old when this movie came out. Was a month away from releasing its first album. Run-DMC hadn't even reached the peak of their career yet. It's a loosely based but mostly fictional story.

The description of the movie literally says "the film is based on the beginnings of Def Jam" and as I mentioned a Def Jam biopic has been in the works for the past few years
