So I get the sense you feel any interracial relationship involving a black woman and a white man is bedwenching...and that's your prerogative. I can understand why the main character sleeping with and being in a relationship with a white man screams to you as promotion of bedwenching. Unfortunately if you can't see past that there isn't anything that I can say to alleviate your fears. She fukks him, dates him, and loves him. She is also the leader of the most black-concious group in the story as a mixed race woman. It's not going to help you to hear that the white man is a symbol of the small part of her that doesn't want to be her. She alludes to him being an escape throughout the series which signifies the affect the constant pressures of being black in a mostly white area can have on even the strongest most outspoken person.

You wrote an entire paragraph about the bedwenching as if that's my overall concern about the show.

I keep referring to it because it's one of the blatant examples that this show is not what it thinks it is.

You didn't explain anything about the show or why it's GOOD by providnig concrete examples of dialogue or scenes that have some form of poignancy.

You just kept attacking my stance on bedwenching.

Atleast OP told me about the dialogue between Sam and the other person about their perspective on how racism should be dealt with.

It's teling that only the OP of this thread and a few others are interested in this show.

Depends on your definition of pro-black. What constitutes as "pro-black" tends to vary among people and that's what leads to clashes. The people who consider the Black family and it's prosperity a vital aspect of pro-blackness are the ones who get up in arms when people date out.

Pro-black has only one definition.

Shows not bad for what it is, satire. its not some pro black stuff tbh. If you're looking for that or to take it seriously you wont like it.

THANK YOU for actually being honest about this show and it's impact and not the intent.

It's satire, not anything deep.

All these other dudes writiung out essays talking about

"No it's actually PRO-BLACK.

. You see .... the way the militant mulatto girl fukks the cac, proves to us that BLACK PEOPLE ARE NOT MONOLITIHC OMG. :ohhh:

The creator is a genius!:ohhh:

Black people don't need one way to fight racism!:ohhh:

Such masterpiece! :ohhh:

Different black experiences!:ohhh:"

I don't why it's so hard for you bozos to tell me it's not a pro-black show and just a satire.

I don't care about black college kids pretending to have a identity crisis and pretending they're militant.

(All of that would have been solved going to an HBCU)

And I think Atlanta is much better than Dear White People but you don't know what you're talking about.

I rest my case. :scust:

Atlanta is the pedigree for me when it comes to intellectual black shows about the black experience.

Anything less than the standard of Atlanta, I'm not gonna watch.

i don't even watch Insecure.

I think this show is what I believed a new version of "A Different World" would be. I really like the variety of characters that represents the Black college experience. I'm pretty sure I went to college with my own version of each member of the main cast. Them being at a White school instead of a HBCU and still having the mixture of Black culture was a great move since they can more easily focus on both White and Black issues on campus.

On that one episode where Troy went off on Reggie because of the "woke" app, Troy said something to the effect of fukk you mean I'm not woke enough!?. My girl watching it with me was like nikka how you gonna be woke if you always sleep in some p*ssy? I died laughing.

I didn't want to repeat what was already said or spoil major plot points. My discussion with you was solely about your stance on it watching the show because it's not pro-rated and promotes bedwenching. I didn't realize at the time I was supposed to explain why it's good.

The story is good, the acting is good and it builds up important discussions that need to be had in our society

why wasn't anyone trying to get up with joelle (I'm only on episode 6)? I don't get why reggie was so thirsty for sam, when joelle is better looking overall. so is coco.
Sam is his female equivalent (and maybe more) when it comes to speaking out on black issues. No one else on the show was doing more than Sam even though her storyline is the most boring.
