That Chronicle on him on the Network that followed his return and turn on Seth, while mostly in character, makes this not particularly surprising. He was openly talking about not being sure if he wanted to come back to WWE at all in that and his attitude seem to oscillate between "fukk this place/this business" to "this is why I do it" after a good pop or good match then back to being pissy about the travel and pain. He has obviously been frustrated in and out of character for a long time and seems to have a generally miserable attitude (Punkian, even) towards the business/company/fans/life.

Wouldn't be surprised if he left entirely and just chilled in the desert for a few years.

I respect breh for being a workhorse. That one year where he did a ridiculous number of matches, particularly that one day where I think he flew to another city and did two house shows on the same day.

With that said, just can't get into him. Moveset is wack, from punches to that rope-clothesline and the jump off middle turnbuckle whatchamacallit.
