How do you work on social anxiety? Sometimes I feel that heavily when I'm in a situation that's lively. :whew:

Do you workout, lift weights, play sports? If not, you should start. Not only will this help with anxiety (at some level), but it will get you tired enough where your body will shut down because of the need of rest.

you gotta just power through it and force yourself to meet new people. if youre comfortable with yourself people will be comfortable around you. If you're not, then its time for some self improvement.

you just sound like you're introverted (I am as well). I'm a pretty humorous dude in real life so I just "turn my brain off" and be myself. In the end, none of this shyt really matters so just be yourself. People are going to either like you or not :yeshrug:

I had anxiety when I was young due to some very real issues but I don't think I suffer from it anymore really. Everyone has anxiety to some things. Anxiety is natural.

I do have to admit, Xanax is fun to do every now and then because you can be truly carefree for a few hours but I always feel guilty for doing it for some reason so I rarely do. Other than relieving anxiety its a really pointless drug. Just makes you tired and forget things.

can't blame you. If I had a legit anxiety disorder I could see how shyt would be addictive as hell. It literally makes you "worry-free" while you're on it. You will give no fukks.

I'm not on that alternate med. shyt but meditation/ self hypnosis helps. on sohh newarkhiphop dropped a couple of free DL links from a hypnosis guru. On amazon for like 2.99 he has audio files for anixtey, smoking, confidence building, relaxation, beginners meditations etc. I'm at a hospital right now so I can't access my laptop to give you a name...

I had a real stressful summer job where I had to put on a "inviting" face for nearly 100 rich ppl a day. I started listening to that 30 min anxiety file for the first time and 5 mins in I was gone. next thing I heard is duke telling me to wake up. it made sleeping easier and I wasn't so stressed out.:yeshrug:
the key is to go with the flow

I've learned that there's certain things i have to do to be in, peak social shape, so to speak... If I know i have to be in a social setting, i usually mentally prepare for it for a few days before hand, part of the preparation is reminding myself that it's never as bad as i make it out to be... everyone in my life knows that they can't spring big shyt like parties or dinners with people im not comfortable with on me last minute or i won't go... I also can't be in those situations for too long (usually more than 3 or 4 hours) before i completely shut down...if i have to be i use the  excuse...

the messed up thing about anxiety is you're constantly searching for ways to 'fix' it, but there's no remedy. i think the best way to go about it is to ignore it as much as possible & pretend you don't have it. otherwise its just going to eat up a shytload of your time & energy.

its basically your nerves misreading things & shooting off too much adrenaline for no damn reason. if you stop reacting to it, it'll cut down on its own. distract yourself with a hobby or whatever. exercise definitely works

it goes against your instinct, but that's the best way. don't even read stuff about it online, it just perpetuates more concern on how to fix it.

B-VITAMINS

get em in your body DAILY

Very good, and folic acid too.

I think mediation is the #1 technique, even CBT & DBT uses this as their foundation.

You kind of do it to yourself, worrying about situations you can't control. It makes you always on edge. I conquered my anxiety, because I look at the bigger picture now. I think mediation is good because it forces you to slow things down, and look at things as a whole. Don't dwell on the little stuff.

A) Stop resisting it, feel out your emotion fully. There is nothing wrong with Anxiety, it's when you make it a habit..and attach thoughts to it that it builds and can become a nuisance. You have to accept the emotion as it is, FULLY, welcome it! Yes, you literally have to welcome it like it's a guest in your house. If you don't, it becomes a low level stress that's constantly on the forefront of your mind..which is not comfortable. It is normal to have anxiety from time to time, there is nothing wrong with it.

B) Tools to help. Meditation, mindful meditation. Staying in the moment, EFT Tapping (youtube this..it'a based on the meridian system, no acupuncture needles required). Yoga is another great one. Get off message boards for the most part..there are a lot of new age books and alternative method books about anxiety and stress.

Basically, it's all about getting in tune with yourself and understanding that emotions are not bad..when you welcome and accept them fully for what they are, you realize what each one is there for..and what it is teaching you in that moment...then they just float away. It is ONLY when you resist what is, that it latches onto you and takes control. People have the misconception that somebody who is depressed is sad all the time, that's just not true. The person who is depressed is ALWAYS on the brink of feeling that sadness..it stays at the forefront of the mind..yet they don't truly accept that sadness and fully feel it..if they did, it would go away. That is why most depressed people almost always appear to be happy, yet they're never full present...and there's something off about them.

Self awareness is the key. Take the step.

I can also tell that, outside of weed..you probably don't take many risks in your life, correct? Lack of taking genuine risks and putting yourself out there can also lead to anxiety/depression. Basically.. if you're not taking chances in life.. life will find a way to make it more interesting..IE anxiety, depression.
