Bout to jump in. Is hard super hard or is it a decent challenge?
I'm tripping already. Don't even want to walk around the corner
shyt lit?
This. I enjoyed Callisto Protocol. I was feeling what they were trying to do with the combat system. They just need to fine tune it. If they can't get a sequel, I hope they're allowed to patch that shyt in the current game, because I would love to beat a Necromorph's ass with a stun baton the way you can in CP.Or played both and made up their own mind.
No, I played the original game though and the atmosphere between the two are just completely different. Maybe the low res/polygon of the original PSX games lends credence to that a theres more room for you to insert your own interpretation as to whats actually happening, but the way it translates into modern graphics loses a lot of that. Especially with the new dialogue
I will walk back the idea thats its not ‘horror’ but like what @CoolinInTheCut says, its not actually scary or spooky, its just suspenseful. Resident Evil in general going over the shoulder lost a lot of its actual appeal in the horror genre, which is why i started liking them more.
I think Bloodborne is more of a horror game
RE2 Remake should be played with the OG soundtrack at 60fps. U shouldn't have to play hide and seek with no weapons an entire game for it to be considered horror. And homie saying Bloodborne is more horror than RE2 Remake is out of his mind.BB isn't really a horror game either.
When I think horror, I'm thinking of games like Outlast 2 (haven't played the first one).
The reason why RE2 Remake probably wasn't scary for me was cause I was playing it on PS5 at 120hz so all the zombies just looked goofy and the cinematic feel was probably lost. The classic Japanese games jank like terrible animations and clipping (when you need to shoot and run by zombies) also ruined immersion. And, yeah, the campy feel of the story just felt juvenile and unserious.
Alot of the voice acting in the original felt way natural to the setting. In the new one, a lot of the lines being read come off so flat.An hour in and everything but the VOs (sans Gunner Wright) is great.
I miss Peter Mensah as Hammond. I don't know if the Voice Director for the remake is trash, but the new Hammond is phoning this shyt in. Mensah used hushed yet urgent tones for a majority of his delivery. This made sense because he was isolated on the ship and didn't want to make a lot of noise and attract the Necromorphs to him. Something that simple added a layer of tension to the original game that can only come from good VAs and good Voice Directors. This new guy has no sense of fear in him, even though he's seen a crewmember torn limb from limb by a straight up MONSTER. You'd think that'd be enough to have him be careful over coms, but this dude's delivery is so fukking deadpan, the dread breaks up whenever he opens his mouth.
Kendra's no better.
